First of all, Hello. Im new to your fourm. I have been swaping sr20dets in to the US spec 240sx for 5 years and about a year ago I got 2 rb25de motors really cheap... so now i want to put one in an s14 I bought on Ebay but I think i will need to go turbo to make 350hp... (sorry I dont know kW) anyway do you think it can be done with out changing to lower comp. pistons? say I just bolt up a stock rb25det manifold and turbo... i have the r33 rb25 wiring harness and mafs ... i still need an ECU tho... and i used left over sr20 370cc injectors. I would kind of like to get it running with the det ecu, mafs, and inj. then add the turbo. so what do you think ? will it work or am out of luck? oh here are some pictures of my sr s14: http://www.entuning.com/jex.html

and pictures of the s14 that will be getting the rb25: http://www.entuning.com/black240.html and sence im introducing myself here I am at a show last year:Christopher Jex Dallas Texas

i think it would work. The question is of reliability of course. If you stick to using low boost levels, 5-7psi, then you could get away without lowering the compression. I hope you were talking about using a stock RB25T ecu, because i dont think the Non turbo ecu is up for the task.

ive heard u need more than that.

stuff like an o2 sensor and etc.

Go to the FOrced INduction performance section or do a search for my thread, "parts needed to turbocharge" and it might be of some help

:P

laters

no piston coolers but is there any modifications we can make to it to make sure the pistons dont overheat etc?

my mechanic quoted me arnd 8k yesterday for a full job..

forged internals, conrods, gt30 turbo and etc etc...expects arnd 300 at the rw.. or with forged internals, i dont need the piston coolers?

Well im sure they (Nissan) didnt just do extra work and spend extra money out of the goodness of their hearts... there is a sound engineering reason for them. that said I think if one is cairfull you can run a turbo on anything and be safe just so long as you do it smart... ie: big intercooler, oil cooler, bigger radiator, maybe even water injection. I know the FWD sr20de's here in the states came with out the oil squirters and jim wolf tech. puts them in fairly regularly. I'm planning to run my rb25de-T whith out them, but I'm also planning to run low boost 5-8 psi. I think you wil be ok making 300hp with out them ... i think 350 will be ok. if i can ever find an ECU I will report back annd tell form experiance what works and what does not. Cjex

    • Ha ha ha, mine loves to spend, all on the dogs (they're our kids, and her spending would likely rival that of some people raising children!) the only benefit is, her spending is tax deductible as she runs a business in the dog industry 😛 The above all means she can spend race car budget quicker than I can. 😛 That and a lot of the things I want are very expensive, and I can be a bit "you want how much for that?!" And at other times overly impulsive. Or I start the w days of research, get to day 1.5 and get really annoyed that no one will advertise actual specifics and it's just marketting BS and I go "well, now I don't want anything to do with that now!" Also I hate paying lots of money for something I can make from $50 in materials. Then I get the shits halfway through making things and wonder why others who just buy parts have more fun... 😛
    • Their 240Z with the RB26 would be a real nice thing to have in a garage to come out for an occasional weekend cruise It's such a cool thing in so many ways Sadly, we have a blue 240Z shell that I walk past every day, just sitting outside a shed at work, it has been slowly disintegrating and falling apart into the ground for the last few years, the owner cannot be found, and I am unable to "claim it" I've been told by work and the RMS, the rust in the body is excessive though, and it has had most of the salvageable stuff, like panels, trim and switch gear stripped off it over the last year or two, work keeps threatening to put it in one of our metal scrap bins, I wish they did though, as it makes Mark sad walking past it
    • Good tips, I like it! 😂😂 My wife is a LOT more frugal than me so it's only me we need to worry about! A splurge to her is buying 2 pairs of socks in one visit at Kmart!
    • Haha, the appropriate response to the question "Is this new?" is "I've had this for a while.". With the unspoken small print that a while may be the time since this morning or five years ago   And to be fair I learned that from the best, i.e. my wife. Because it goes both ways.
    • Yeah kids certainly add a whole another dimension to your life.  Life ceases to be about you and more about them for a while!  And I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love watching them play sport and make new friends along the way. Wow, sounds like your mate is a good guy to know!!!  He's got some serious toys in the toy box!  Yes it would be lovely to be able to do stuff to your car without getting all tied up in boring shit like how to pay for it!!  I would describe my spending style as "aggressively spontaneous and logical but regrettable purchasing"....  That will hopefully make no sense at all which would be appropriate given that is how I buy stuff.  I'll decide at the drop of a hat that I'm buying something expensive, research the living shit out of it for 2 days straight then go out and buy it.  Then I'll have instant buyers remorse for 2 days which generally passes by the time it turns up on the front step!  If I'm feeling ballsy sometimes I'll tell my wife.  Other times it just makes its way silently passed the house and out the back to the shed, never to be spoken of again...
