hi guys,

im thinking i should do my harmonic balancer as it 'sounds necessary' so i wanted to gain some thoughts on this, for an rb26/30 making 400awkw.

also, what is the preferred choice here & is the Ross Metal Jacket a good option?

i remember seeing a kit which includes the water pump pulley etc, anyone seen this kit?

thanks

marko

also, is the rb26 balancer the same as the rb30 balancer?

both cranks look the same at a glance

Yes, the 26 balancer will bolt on to the 30 crank.

Don't forget the JUN collar for your oil pump too, unless you are running a dry sump setup.

thanks mate - i have the jun collar in place.

should i go for the larger/heavier 1000hp balancer OR the smaller/lighter 600hp, as the 1000hp kit will create extra rotational mass.

then again, i'll be pushing towards 800hp

500 hp balancer as the 1000 requires regular maintenance.

I just purchased one from summit racing in the states it came to around 600 deliverd after the exchange rate (rocket industries want 770 trade rate..)

this is the R32 rb26 one (you need to go by what power steering/aircon/alternator your using for the right amount of ribs & ofsets on the balancer)

Making 400awkw is a serious build. The Rose balancer is a good option, but the ATI 1000hp balancer is the better option. ATI also has a pulley kit.

Id only use the 1000hp ati balancer if u werent keeping the aircon and if ur going external belt driven oil pump & making over 600hp (engine hp)

Id use the 600hp ati balancer if u were going external oil pump & making under 600hp (engine hp)

Everything else id run the ross balancer. Its rated to 1500hp. Good for pretty much everyone on here.

If you want the 30 to hold together ATI all the way. The ATI RB balancers IS a better balancer than the Ross.

what makes u say that?

Of course we're right, lol.

Dont tight ass the fuel system, get a twin entry rail and twin 044's with a good size surge tank. Use whatever is currently in the fuel tank as a lift pump (labour costs to swap it for some wimpy pump is usually more than the pump is worth omce you include a "low powered" pump eg stock GTR pump for $100 or new bosch 040 for $220 or whatever), personally i prefer the 044 intank as a lift pump for peace of mind and knowing flow will never be an issue, ever.

Call Gerry, he has my old greddy fuel rail at the workshop, he's selling it for me. Its blue, twin entry and cheap.

EDIT: There are people on here who have not had such an elaborate fuel system and had the same power results as me, some even with more. But IMO they're running too much of a risk for the sake of the money involved.

exact same thing can be said about the balancer
