i got my car serviced a few months back and i asked for platinum spark plugs and i have just had a look in there today and took a spark plug out and they are cheap normal spark plugs.

i asked for platinum cause that is what people on here recommended and im pissed off i had to pay for the cheap ones at the price for platinum's and the mech is shut for Easter so i cant abuse him.

can this screw my r33 gtst up? do they have to be platinum's?

i will never trust a mech again and i wont be lazy and do it myself next time.

without getting into the topic of what is better, normal coppers vs iridiums. i wouldn't be worried that he only used normal ones, it wont stuff your engine up. a lot of people only run normal coppers.

the only thing i would be worried about if i was you is the fact that you paid for iridiums and standard coppers were used! there is a fair bit of price difference between the two.

thats a surprise. I would have expected "people on here" to suggest you not waste your money on platinums and just get coppers unless you don't like servicing your car yourself..then i can understand why you chose platinums.

wont do any damage and no they dont have to be platinums but if you paid for plats then you should get plats

well the one thats more expensive and better than Platinum plugs are the Iridium tip ones...

supposedly from the manufacture...The result are spark plugs that require less voltage to spark, burns fuel more efficiently, sparks at leaner air/fuel mixtures, and delivers higher horsepower and better gas mileage.

you would say all that too if you were trying to make money out of spark plugs wouldnt you?

NGK has released a new one called IRIDIUM IX...evoloution spark plug....

finest spark plugs in the world apparently...

but at the end of the day, some people just want to go all out on thier car... best oil, best fuel, best plugs, best brake fluid etc...

it may not be all that necessary.

i wouldnt really bother that much, i usually rid them every 40,000km anyway
