Gday All,

Quick question - who in Launceston (preferably) knows how to tune these cars well, especially with the Power FC?

I've been told before who does 'em, but that was about a year ago... and now I forget (natch).

I'm also interested to know roughly what I can expected to pay for this?

Last tune was almost a year ago - that was on the mainland - and I *think* I paid about $600 for the privilege...

Cheers

i know you said in launnie :) but i made the trip down to hobart to get nick summers to tune my PFC, and i would highly recomend him, best bet is to call up SPG in hobart and they could organise it for you, other than than in launnie there is fuel tech (road tune) or sherrif

i've had a few hassles trying to get Summers to do mine :) BUT i did have a few things to do other than just my tune. while car is off the road I am installing my gtr injectors, z32 and rb26 pfc so that way i can ring nick and just get a tune and thats it :-) but yeah, im also on the lookout for someone else in case i cant get mine done in time by Summers.

Thanks for that ian_and1, I suppose it'd be an excuse to go down to Hobart :)

Do you recall roughly how much it cost to get a tune done?

I'm a little in two minds about getting a tune done if expensive in Tas, mainly because I /think/ my 34 has lost some power- then again it could just be my imagination. The other main reason is I'm lucky to take the 34 out of the shed even once a month now (due to my location). I should really sell it and get something more practical for the roads around here, even though I still love the car.

Cheers

dont quote me on this  but i think it was around the $350 for a base tune. but he was great when i picked the car up he gave me a run down on what he had done etc showed me how to use the hand controller/settings etc but he will def be doing tuning my new set up :)

I am trailering my car from Hobart to Launceston to get Brad Sheriff to tune it but its running a Microtech, I have seen some really good figures he has pulled out of cars running microtechs and other ECUs, not sure about PowerFCs tho. Might be worth asking him.

Any one here know if he does PowerFCs?

Pro Automotive (Hobart) are excellent also. Last time they did my R34 it was about $300.00.

Well $300 is better than the $600 I paid last time (on the mainland) :(

Thanks, I'll make note of their details.

I'm pretty sure he does - I recall it being mentioned on SAU before.

Next time I'm in Launy I'll drop by and ask, cheers

Thanks again for the info, much better prices in TAS I see. Cheers :)

yeah he does, he did my R33 which has a pwr Fc, from memory he made a plug up for my Z32 afm and installed my upgraded injectors, with a dyno run as well, think it cost me around $430 for the lot. And yes he produced a more than respctable number fromm my R33 :ninja:

it's not always about the power thoe, might be getting big numbers but is it a safe tune etc :)anyway all the people mentioned in this thread im sure know what there doing when it comes to tuning

good numbers and a nice safe tune, the car has run near its full potential with the hardware in it for almost 18months now, never misses or looks like missing a beat

Go see Brad @ Boost. He tuned my old RB25 to 399rwkw with twin turbos.

Hey tuned my 25/30 with T51r 364rwkw @ 20psi but found a rattle in the head. I will go back to him once mine is sorted again.

If you need any 25 bolt on parts let me know... Greddy plenum, 80mm throttlebody, 6boost manifold, T51r, 60mm gate, lol

    • This was a huge help.  We followed the steps,  although shifting into 2nd was actually into 3rd for us,  and 1st was into 2nd ( steps 9 and 11) .  The long flash was the 4th flash.  So shift solenoid A is possibly the culprit.  Is this inside the transmission itself? Or is it accessible by just front the pan? Or is it bolted to the outside of the transmission?  Thanos for your help everyone
    • Can you enlighten me on your best practice regarding these hoses? I don't wanna make the same mistake if you already got a better solution.
    • I have some silicon hoses already, for example engine to watercooler. But yeah, I get the sentiment. The lower intercooler silicon hose is drippy too, despite not being very old. Does anyone except Nismo make these same lines out of rubber? Long term I think they'd be the better replacement, especially since the car won't live as hard a life anymore as in the past nor be driven as often.
    • I know most issues are just age related. But for example the turbo oil drains, there is dash adapters for these and you can just make a braided teflon line for them and (probably) never have them leak again. Also not terribly expensive. Can you even get the factory hardlines from new? Or are they repairable if they break?
    • I know it'd be much much easier with the tool. I hope I can find one that won't take 3 weeks to get to me an isn't a "Asian models kit" that has tons of (to me) useless adapters for a load of cash.   It's a summer project/fun car. I do wanna enjoy it, without endless downtime over and over. So yeah I would even go and buy an engine crane + stand to save myself the trouble of hard to reach or unreachable places going bad later on. Would also be a good opportunity to put on a Fluidamper, renew the mains seals and stuff like that. I have some money on the side that I can use for that, what I wouldn't want to or be able to do is let everything be done by a shop or have my engine completely rebuild right now. I intend to do most of the "doable" jobs myself. Pulling an engine can't be that hard, can it?
