Aftermarket Xenon Hid Kits For R33

Hi guys,

Im sure this has been covered somewhere but i couldnt locate a thread.

Just wondering if aftermarket xenon HID kits damage the headlight or the lens on R33's? I have a series 1 GTR and was considering replacing the standard headlights with HID's but am unsure if it will destroy my headlights over time or discolour the lenses due to a difference in heat temps. I dont nkow too much about them so any advice would be great.

Nope, they will be fine mate. Just make sure they are UV cut (maybe there is some that aren't).

Shouldn't cause you a problem. Known a few people to run HID's in the GTR's and they haven't come accross any issues.

what do you men uv cut?

like uv filter on globes?

i heard they can discolor plastic headlights if they don't have uv filter

Yeah, uv cut, uv filter, same shit. Most lights have this.

I have used HIDs in all my cars over the past few years and never had any discolouration problems at all.

Heat is what causes discolouration and you are more likely to get it from high wattage halogens IE: 50w onwards.

Do the HID's get hot and do most come with that UV filter?

hids only run at i think 35w

not too sure about this uv filter thingy but NYTSKY sells quality HID kits so get a kit off him and dont get a cheap branded one.

i think philips comes with uv filter as far as im aware, not sure about other kits tho

do you know how can you tell if it has one?

is it just a coat over the bulb or you cant see it , like i seem some philips ones have a blue coat???

HIDs operate at colder temps because they are only 35w.

after bit of research most globes will be uv cut so just make sure you ask before you buy and you will be fine
