Hey all,

I know this has been asked a lot but about a day or so ago i noticed that my oil pressure guage is showing 8 and over (going past the last mark on the guage) should i be worried. I thought i may have had something to do with my white face dials getting installed and them buggering up the needle but they didn't cause it was fine after getting the dials installed.

I have not checked my oil yet, i will do that, i have only had the car for a month.

Cheers

Kris

Kris,

Really high oil pressure is usually due tot he wrong grade of oil being used.

What is the pressure at idle when warm? And what it is at cruising speeds when warm?

If in dought, dump the oil and filter and change it to something the guys on here recommend.

Cheers

Jayson

I would suggest it's the sender. Disconnect the wire from the sender and see what happens to the gauge. Then try earthing the wire.

(had a similar problem in my R30 - oil pressure without the engine running, just with key in 'ON' position)

sounds like the factory gauge/sensor playing up as you mentioned it only just started happening, i.e it was fine with the same oil....

but check oil to see level, and for contamination (water or fuel etc.) and buy an aftermarket gauge for more accurate indication.

My Oil pressure reaches high's only in the mornings when car is cold. I hesitate to drive because the needle just keeps rising unless i put the car in neutral wait for it to drop then try driving again, is this normal

after engineis warm it sits in the middle.

Normal , the oil is too thick when cold .
