Hot off The press! Nissan have issued a press release that yesterday a JDM GT-R 09MY (Series 2) with Ray's alloy wheels(as per V-Spec) and Dunlop tyres has set a Nurbugring lap record of 7min 27.56 secs. Apparently the track was quite dusty (and sandy!) and Mizuno is contemplating a second attempt for tommorow. There is no doubt that this is an astounding time...but I thought the Corvette ZR-1 did a 7.26min, so I'm not sure how this is a lap record. If they shave another 2 secs off that, that would be something!

It's because there is some question marks to their lap time. From what I have read is that there are rumors that the ZR-1 was running a trick suspension setup that are not found on the standard road car and I don't beleive that they have been back again for another test. Maybe with Nissan getting back out there and pulling fast lap times may bring them out

Nissan's goal was to beat the the 911 and they did that and then Porsche jumped up and down questioning the lap times. From what I've read Porrsche guys were present for the 7:27 laptime

well, that's Porsche beat.............how about declare war on the Fezzas and climb over that Enzo in the 7:25 spot.

I'll leave the rest for the "Ultra hardcore GTR with stripped out interior and roll cage, carbon fibred panel etc etc" to beat. I have every confidence that Nissan can kick that Viper's ass.

Haha great!

As much class and standing that comes with owning a ferrari or porsche, they would have to feel small when their track days and traffic lights are accompanied with the odd R35 :)

All hail GTR and Nissan Engineering.

I wonder what that lap felt like to drive lol

Hats off to Nissan, shame they couldnt make the thing look as good as the cars its quicker then :)

Congrats to Nissan, they have really produced something special.

The R35 is so aggressive, they really achieved the look they were after, and I think it works.

Many of my mates drive porsche, none of them look that great to me. Lambos though, damn they are sexy.

Pity for them this costs less than half the price and still manages to humble them. Try asking them what an extra 150-300k buys you!

I've just read on a German forum that Porsche brought a VLN 911 GT3 RSR to the track on the same day (15/04) that Nissan tried to run their record lap.

It seems that their intention was to set the absolute Nurburgring record i.e. to break 6:55. Their previous best was 7:03 but something went dramatically wrong this time (tire failure) and the car exited the track pretty violently, moving a whole lot of sand onto the track while doing so.

Hence the 7:27.56 being run so late in the day and with sh*t all over the track at that sector.

The weather is just clearing up after raining for the past two days. There will be 2 or 3 clear days and then more predicted rain for the rest of the month.

If a re-run and Spec-V run doesn't happen in the next few days, it probably won't happen this year.

    • This is a story of my life things, I learned eventually (thanks to someone calling me out) that my enthusiasm for discussing and sharing ideas that it came across as arrogance and I'm like... WTF?!    One thing I'm pretty sure I justifiably pride myself on is knowing that everyone will have things they can teach you, and you're always going to find out that something you think you know turns out wrong - you just don't know what it is until you get there.   Just the bursting enthusiasm that comes with ADHD when you hit something that gives you dopamine dumps can come across like you think everyone else is wrong or don't matter. But yeah, I'm a software engineer by trade and also do tuning in weekends and 100% have long had a reputation for  quickly making connections when resolving problems or forming solutions that I've sometimes had to take people form a long walk from start to end to explain how I ended up where I did when it's seemed "too simple" when I've stated my initial case, and had the "WTF" type reaction when they've realised how much was actually considered haha.   My reward is that I get all the curly problems thrown at me.
    • Wives never seem to find things funny. Especially when they're trying to sleep, and you've found the new funniest thing ever. I've never seen someone be able to get try and be cranky with me, while they're holding back fits of laughter... 😛   Also, I tell mine it's payback anyway. She has BiPolar. So the household can get quite emotionally wild at times 😛
    • I'm not up to date on the latest, but for basic modifications like pod filter, lower springs etc you can get a modification permit at the time of inspection.  For more serious modifications you will need engineering.  Intercoolers used to fall into the mod permit rule but its been a long while since i looked it up.   Either way you will be able to get it registered, just a case of $300 vs $3k .
    • Hi everyone! I’m the new owner of a 1996 R33 GTS-T, I’ve purchased this car over from Queensland and brought it to Western Australia and I’ve found that there is a hole cut out in the engine bay for the FMIC that enters into the wheel well (fender liners are in the boot). For anyone that has had to get their car over the PITS here, will this be a major issue?
    • Yeah I've spotted this one too, whenever it's lotto superdraw week and I'm browsing car sales dot com for my new ride They must be dreaming, maybe it's worth 150k for the link to Brock?
