GROUP BUY FOR BONNET STRUTS FOR SKYLINE BONNET

WAT UP MEMBERS IV RECENTLY GOT A STRUT KIT MADE UP CUSTOM FOR MY CAR.

AS I COULD NOT FIND A EXSISTING KIT FOR MY R34 BESIDES THE TEIN BRAND WHICH

COSTS WELL OVER $450, AND DATS LITTLE BIT TOO PRICEEEE.

ALSO THE TEIN KIT IS FOR CARBON FIBRE BONNETS NOT THE HEAVIER STOCK BONNETS.

THE GUY WHO MADE THE KIT UP FOR ME IS A PRIVATE MODIFIER JUST GOES BY AS

BK CUSTOMS.

I WAS VERY SATISFIED WITH THE KIT.

THE BONNET SITS 5-10CM HIGHER WHICH IS BETTER FOR WORKING IN THE BAY

ALSO IT REQUIRES NOTHING TO INSTALL EVERYTHING COMES WITH.

BOLTS DIRECTLY UP TO UR EXISTING HINGES AND GUARD.

I GOT MINE MADE UP FOR MY R34 GTT AND IT COST ME A BIT OVER $280 BECAUSE IT WAS THE FIRST SO MORE TIME WAS SPENT ON GETTING IT RIGHT.

I HAV CONTACTED THE GUY AGAIN AND HE SAID THAT HE CAN MAKE THE KIT FOR $200 IF HE DOES ROUND 10 KITS MINIMUM.

AS THIS KIT WAS CUSTOM FOR THE R34 GTT IM PRETTY SURE THE R33 GTST IS THE SAME BUT NOT SURE BOUT R32.

IF U R INTERESTED LET ME KNO AND SEND ME A PIC OF UR HINDGES AND I WILL FORWARD IT TO BK CUSTOMS.

MY EMAIL IS [email protected]

I WILL POST PICS UP OF MINE AS SOON AS I CAN FIND MY F***EN CABLE FOR THE CAMERA. LOL :P

ye i think he does let me double check with him and i will pm u da detail. and i totally understand ur concern about being legit. i had mine made up by him because i kno him and he tackles jobs that others dont want to. thats why i like his attitude and he does a good job.

as for the kit it comes with the struts and brackets and bolts up to ur hindge via ur orig nut and ur orig bolt on ur guard.

someone post some pics of an R32 bonnet hinge pleaseeee

hmmm seems like no one has a camera. lol

i will do my reaserch and get sum skyline drivers togeda and take pics of all the different hindges. then will send to bk customs for his thoughts.

also i should prob put up like a starting date for the group buy. :P

The kit looks OK but I have concerns about the mounting brackets moving around / coming loose. With the weight of a GTT bonnet and the force of those struts, I could see them moving and even bending in a short period of time. If the mounting brackets were of a better design ( so as to stop the above from happening ) I would be a lot more interested.

I wish the guy making these kits was in Sydney so I could work with him to design something better. :P

Anyway, I'm a quality whore so maybe I'm just too anal.

There's also the small matter of what .:: GimpS-R34 ::. said.

im glad ur so anal lol because there is a magority of ppl who feel the same. here are some facts mine hav been on my vehicle for 8 months so far with constant bonnet opening.

also we actually ran over these brackets and were not able to bent them, so ur bonnet wont do it eather.

we used the toughest stainless steel we could source.

so never fear this shit is superman. lol

also for concerns of being legit i hav sourced bk customs a.b.n it is 13 437 145 176

and one more thing its good to get interests in this kits durability because u might not buy the first batch but others will, then they can tell the rest if they are good or not.

so in all honesty u can chose to trust in this product or not but eventually there will be ppl who are goin to purchase them and find out for them selves. then they can comment on the durabilty, craftsmanship and value. and i am very happy with mine and this is the reason why i hav started this group buy.

Looks good mate.. i'd be interested aye.. so what's required to get it all up and running? i'd be happy to be a guinea pig.. buy one and let the others know quality, assurance etc.. if not let us know when this will all be up and running.. cheers

    • Hows your intake piping? Are you still running stock? Having in the stock AFM position would mean, if the BOV was shut/venting out, it'd create the almost stalling kind of effect right // "the rich pulse behaviour" due to MAF thinking air is flowing ? But this would be better than having the bov in the stock position + MAF on/just before cross over piping right?
    • Essentially, yes. Although I wouldn't put the AFM on the crossover pipe. I'd want to put it into what amounts to the correct size tube, which is more easily done in the intercooler pipework. I bought a mount tube for card stile AFM that replaces the stock AFM - although being a cheap AliExpress knockoff, it had not flange and I had to make and weld my own. But it is the same length and diameter as the stock RB AFM, goes on my airbox, etc etc. I don't have a sick enough rig to warrant anything different, and the swap will take 5 minutes (when I finally get around to it and the injectors & the dyno tune).
    • So to summarise, the best thing to do is to move recirc to between turbo and IC, and maf on the crossover pipe. Meaning I'd need a recirc flange, drill a hole in the piping on turbo outlet area. And drill hole on crossover to fit/weld maf sensor? Either that or put the MAF on the turbo inlet right?  Is an aftermarket recirc/blowoff valve recommended? Do currently have family in Japan so could probably bring something back with maybe a cheeky lil SuperAutobacs run?
    • Yep, so far most have said that it looks like corrosion on the wall from piston not moving. Which then has probably damaged the oil rings and caused those vertical marks. The longest the engine was still after the rebuild, was the winter of 2018 - 2019, plus the boat trip to Japan. When I shipped the car, it had normal gas in the tank but before that winter pause, it had E85 in tank.  In any case, even if either one of those was the cause, it happened close to 6 years ago and the car has been driven something like 30 000kms after the fact. Again, apart from the plugs and the dip stick, there is nothing in the way the car runs that would indicate what has been going on in the engine. I am going to consult a shop and ask their opinion, what would be the best approach. I do have some access to a garage I could use to diagnose further myself, but time is very restrictive. Might end up buying another engine that could be used while this one is being remedied. Without pulling the head, it will be impossible to find out if it needs another bore, but here's to hoping a hone would suffice.  Goddamnit, I would really have preferred this not happening.
    • Boot is going to be replaced eventually. I just wire brushed what I could and rust converted. Then painted in rust kill primer. the spoiler also got repainted and plugs replaced on the ends. The under side of the bonnet is going to be black also, currently white. But red on the top side, same colour code as the silo to begin.
