im glad ur so anal lol because there is a magority of ppl who feel the same. here are some facts mine hav been on my vehicle for 8 months so far with constant bonnet opening.

also we actually ran over these brackets and were not able to bent them, so ur bonnet wont do it eather.

we used the toughest stainless steel we could source.

so never fear this shit is superman. lol

also for concerns of being legit i hav sourced bk customs a.b.n it is 13 437 145 176

and one more thing its good to get interests in this kits durability because u might not buy the first batch but others will, then they can tell the rest if they are good or not.

so in all honesty u can chose to trust in this product or not but eventually there will be ppl who are goin to purchase them and find out for them selves. then they can comment on the durabilty, craftsmanship and value. and i am very happy with mine and this is the reason why i hav started this group buy.

Don't get me wrong. I don't want to crap on this idea. I want one ! I just want to make sure it's a fit & forget set-up :bunny:

I accept the fact that the brackets are strong enough to not bend, but as per my first sentence, I'm more concerned about the design of the mounting brackets and the possibility of them moving around over time causing wear to the paint / metal. I'll see if I can explain what I mean.

In the pics you have posted up, it looks like the strut attatchment point would create a load that would cause the mounting brackets to turn ( which it looks like this has happened in the pics ? ). This might not be the case and if not, I'm interested in grabbing a kit.

But if my concerns are justified, I would suggest a different style of mounting bracket that somehow braces itself so it can't be turned with the repeated opening & closing of the bonnet. Does that make sense ?

Anyway, I'll be watching this thread for updates & you can consider me a part of the group buy pending results from the "guinea pig "

where do i sign.. yeah i'm in for it.. i'm in brisbane.. let me know details.. cheers

ok mate il pm u bk customs contact so u can talk with him on payment details. coolio

well uv lookd hard at those pics. heheh ye me and bk customs worked on this problem many hours. the brackets on the pics are not the one in the kit. the ones in the kit can not move due to them being mounted to the whole hindge and the bottom brackets are better design then the ones in the pic.

the pic has the original phase 1 kit we made weve been through bout 4 until we got it right.

it will all make sence to u wen ginuea pig get the kit and comments on them.

hey mate.. gave him a call.. just let me know when its ready and for payment details, etc and will go from there.. looks like mine will be ready end of next week fellas.. so will let you know how they go when i've received them.. and will post piccies

im also keen for a 32gtr, just do they use different dampers for gtr bonnets made from alloy making half the weight

nah these struts should b sweet. could u plz send me pics or post up pics of ur hindges.

i just saw the price of these kits. wow, that's a lot. i reakon i could easily make kits for about $150 using good quality struts

wow $150 thats a good price but what material would you use and what kind of welds on the brackets, also what brand would the struts be.

well this kit has stainless steel brackets which are powder coated and the gas struts come with a 1 yr warranty. so if u can come up with a better kit,, shit u should deffinently do ur own thread on struts.

hey guys sorry for no posts lately... iv had a hard time contacting bk customs. i dnt kno wats goin on with him or the bonnet struts he is making but will keep updating as i find out... peace

So is anything happening with these struts?

well good news and bad news.

bad news im calling of the group buy as to the fact the guy who was going to make them for me has pulled out

good news is i will search for a new guy who can do it for the price listed

untill then keep those skylines humming and sorry bout the inconvinience.

cheers

    • I suppose that's true. Barring almost any situation, I'll never sell so what the market does is kind of irrelevant to me. It's possible I'd make most of my money back. That spreadsheet I mentioned? Maybe I could make back more than what the car's total costs thus far are, but the parts and all that is possibly a different story... Thanks for reading. It was certainly a good moment and just makes the ties to the car that much stronger. It's exciting that the option will be there to bring it over, however I have some plans with a shop that may end up keeping the car there longer, not sure. Coupled with the fact I want to move there and haven't solidified any path yet. So in a way, it feels like I'm in a limbo state that is uncertain; time will tell.
    • No worries, everything worked out in the end. I just wanted to make the point that it doesn't matter where it comes from (I.E Australia), it can be broken or improperly built. I would still purchase from these companies in the future. B2R - Not certain how that finished, this was on a car I wired a few things and street tuned. I know the owner ended up shipping the motor back to Australia for investigation. Hopefully some of it is covered under warranty.  Turbosmart - I always pressure test everything that goes on my car. It's a habit from my career in oil and gas. I run two 40mm's and both had major leaks from the actuator to exhaust portion through the shaft. I returned both, they shipped me back two and one was leaking and the other had a 38mm top (40mm gate with 38mm actuator cap, no idea how that happens). Eventually after a lot of back and forth I found myself with two non-leaking gates. I believe this happens a lot more then people would like to believe but you would never know if you don't pressure test them prior to installation. Crank Motorsport - Issued a full refund and let me keep the seat rails. I turned them into scrap metal for other projects. GKTech - Shipped me out a replacement and asked that I modify it as per my idea and that they would do the same for a future revision. ATP - Can just needed a large shim to bolt up properly.  Haltech - They started an actual proper Beta channel for firmware's a few months back and stopped using the general public for testing. I'm now much happier.  Speedtek - f**k Speedtek. I would love to watch them burn.
    • I've got a Turbosmart wastegate, ATP catch can, many GK Tech parts and Haltech everything. Everything's been perfect, sorry to hear your experience wasn't the same
    • The only high-power RB I've personally seen go pop after running for all of an hour on a dyno was built by B2R, while being remotely tuned by B2R. The only wastegates I've ever had leak like a sieve, return, still leak, return and get shipped back the wrong ones were from Turbosmart. The only final drive that I've ever purchased that were unusable, twice... were from Speedtek. The only seat mounts that I've ever purchased that placed the seats in the door frame were from Crank Motorsport. The only poorly designed parts that I had the manufacturer confirm should have been designed as per what I mentioned were from GKTech. The only ECU I've had firmware updates consistently break things are Haltech. The only catch can I've purchased that didn't fit in its advertised spot was from ATP. So forth and so on... Moral of the story, doesn't matter where it's from. Do your research beforehand and stick with products and companies you've trusted in the past.    @joshuaho96 If you want it done right, do it yourself.
