BUY A BIKE MATE.

+1

Can't argue with $7 a week for fuel plus the added fun.

I took the R33 for a real descent long drive through the hills last night... and it reminded me how much it is so worth it pouring money into it. Oh the joy.

Hills are the best way to enjoy it. Nice cold nights :P

And GTST......+1 haha. I still regard my car as just a car, it's just a little better than some others that's all.

I'm feelin a bit the same way lately.

I bought the car with the intentions of loving and looking after it which worked in the first 3 months, always washed and polished, I used to just sit and stare out the window at it in awe. Since then my mum made me sell my daily (i live at home still, only 20 and theres 7 cars to 4 people) so now the 33 gets used as a daily driver. I own horses too so it gets taken into paddocks, driven through mud etc etc and although gets washed etc it's taking it's toll on her.

Since the car has been used as a daily to get to work and to see my horses I have lost the fascination for it that I once had... Sad really :D

Gosh now after reading that ^ I feel so bad haha.

I've been thinking of selling the skyline, but I'm finding it hard to actually bring myself to part with it. The money I've spent on it has made it drive just the way I'd like a car to drive, that being power and handling and response.

I'd like to replace it with something more practical and not spend a lot of money....like i mean about $5g replacement max. Although ultimately I'd like that replacement to have balls which usually means a turbo, be a station wagon, look stock, and all wheel drive would be nice. Most of all, I want the paint to be stuffed and have trolley dints through it because I'm over taking care of cars, and it's not going to matter if I take it off road. I'm pretty much looking For an old Subabru L series wagon with a wrx motor dropped in it.....or a Legacy but its a bit above what I'd like to spend.

I think I'm asking a bit much out of a dunga.

The biggest thing I would miss is the power, the ability to dispose of slow traffic regardless if it's multiple cars, up hill etc. It is nice to do.

AGREED! I commute on my bike now and take my car for weekend squirts only and i appreciate it so much more now it's relieved of daily duties!

So very true, i'm now doing this and it was the best descision i ever made :P

I got a banged up old mazda ute with 350,000 km on the clock on gas...cheap as too run and great for carrying stuff around...i reckon it works out cheaper than trying to drive my skyline everyday...keeps the 33 fresh and makes it so much more enjoyable to drive on special occasions or late nights when i cant sleep...who wants to drive a racecar in traffic anyway...kinda defeats the purpose....unless your a poser...lol

+1 ill drive my getz from a to b, running errands and not caring if soemone bumps the doors etc, a classy bmw for taking the misses out n going to uni so when that special moment comes along to drive my gtr, its worth every minute of the drive; i do only 50kms a month now....kinda looks like those low km gtr's might not have their clocks wound back afterall, well...especially mine wont be after 5 or so years

I love my car------------------ till something needs fixing that I can't do myself then I hate all the bullshit that I have to go through to get the right job at the right price so by extension I hate my friken car and when it's all done I hate it even more because it's just cost me half as much more than the freekin repair should have and it's not fixed properly anyway (about 25% of the time) and something else is scratched and/or broken and/or filthed up that wasn't when it went for repair (90% of the time).

I finaly find the correct proceedure for fixing the problem after seaching the friken net for days do the whole thing myself like I should have done in the first place, car runs like a swiss watch and I love it again.

:P

Iv had my 33 for 2 years now, and i still cant find enough excuses to go flog it through the mountains.

I think its a shame all the beautiful cars that are locked away and driven for 50km a month :(

I've had my 33 gtst for almost 3 years.

i hate it, almost off my p's so hopefully sell it and buy something i want to put money into (S2 s14).

living on a worn out gravel (dust in summer, mud in winter) driveway, i've given up trying to keep it clean.

We all go through these times... But think. Were all on this forum for one reason, because of our cars.

Even though it guzzles fuel, tears through tyres, scrapes driveways, attracts police, is too loud... We all still bend over and take it. Throwing every cent you have into it, making sacrifices (eating 2min noodles for a week so you can buy that next mod lol).

But everytime you turn that key and go for a strap, you realise it was all worth it.

Anyways ya get the point.

As much as id like to agree here. I cant help but think of all the people that bought a gt falcon or a monaro in the late 60s...

Now one guy kept his in the garage cause it was something special, something he had worked hard for and cherished. probably took it out every couple of weeks , washed the dust of it drove it to church..you know the story

Now the other guy drove it everyday racked a buzzillion miles (thats if he didnt wreck it) wear and tear took its toll and eventually sold it to the wreckers for 50$ scrap...

Who's laughing now?...the guy with the half million car....

Anyone who thinks these cars (GTR, WRX, EVO) will not be collectible in 40 years is probably the same person who wishes they held onto their car 40 years ago...

What would you prefer when you retire half a million dollars ,or a pile of scrap metal..

Then again the way the economy is going scrap metal will probably be worth half a mill...lol

Who knows maybe my gtst will be worth a few quid oneday

GRAN TORINO IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER.....GOODNIGHT..

i think you've missed the point , but you are right about v-specs...what about the 4 door gtr...not many of them around is there...

yeah i know my car is rubbish (thanx for reminding me)......it would hold its value kept in good shape...but wont really go up ..maybe in 50 years but ill b pushing up daisys then so whats the point....but its all i got so im still gunna look after it and guard it with a shotgun

but looking at old datsuns the other day and couldnt believe some over the prices...50,000 for a hotted up 260z...i didnt see that coming
