Hey all, i have decided to use my car to its full potential as if it were just a v spec, but with the bonus of being a nur. Don't car about keeping cars stock for resale, want to use it for what nissan intended.

Firstly who here would do a nur up and secondly, Just want some advice on what mods are a good start, can't decide what to do to it just yet. Don't want roll cages or anything like that. Just what could be used well on the track but not too over the top for the street.

sound like a plan!

the cheapest and one of the best mods you can do for the track is add less weight. so start strippin!!!!

then think about zorst, intake, puta, BOOOOOST!!!!!

oh, and dont forget brakes and tyres, the list goes on...

I went through this thought exercise a while ago and this was my conclusion

a) if you modify the nur in a way that is irreversible, you are $20k+ in a hole

right at the outset due to loss in resale value, and have almost no advantage over the cheaper

v-spec ii except for your N1 block which can be had for $3k if required.

Even if you keep all the stock items the modification will be detectable (it will damage the

car slightly) PLUS you gotta pay $2k+ to reverse them at sale time, sell all your parts at a

loss. etc. And every change makes your car more of a pain to drive around town.

b) you'll be told by tuners that to make the car competitive on anything but the long tracks you need

weight reduction, roll cage, and so on. Without a roll cage, you may bend the chassis if you

run around on slicks. Look at the motorsport forum to see the lengths required to make an R34

competitive on shorter tracks, time attacks and so on. Even a track R32 is a major project.

c) if you shoot for a stock looking street/track car and don't have any illusions about domination on

a track, and don't mind seeing your Nur being damaged somewhat plus

possible drive train or engine damage.. (and therefore resale).. then how about just shoot for

1.4bar, a fat exhaust, good intake, hard pipes, cam gears, a sports radiator and oil cooler and

an ecu, and any remaining dollars on rims, coilovers, anti roll bars and make it nismo parts if

possible. That gives you the "thrill" of spending sub $20k including labor and you've get 300 awkw

not that much lag AND you might find a buyer one day who regards these

changes as not ruining the nur, and anyway they are certainly reversible with almost no sign

they were there (unless you start posting about your times and so on).

honestly though you'd be better off trading from a nur to a stock R34, then using that cash to build

up the R34. Or trading directly from a nur to a built R34 (just as cheap as a stock one) and

"adjusting" the build to suit your aims..

Or trade from a nur to a stock R34, then buy a dedicated track car.

Or sell the nur and buy an Exige, put some money into the engine and dominate everything.

Or sell the nur and buy an Evo 8, put more money into it and dominate most things.

You are a brave man...

I cannot bring myself to do ANYTHING more to mine ( currently cam gears, ecu, zorst all c/o racepace ( with a stock looking twin outlet zorst pipe ).

I am stuck between the resale issue and the fun involved in continuing modding :thumbsup:

Mine is an M-Spec NUr ( I think only 250 made ) in MIllenium Jade...so I feel the predicament..

Would certainly be interested in hearing what you end up doing...keep us all updated and good luck with the decision making.

seriously though its all the usual suspects... Power FC, Exhaust, cam gears, good pads/fluid, a slight boost increase... enjoy that for a while before you go doing anything else... it should be pretty reliable and punchy like that but if you want to go all out I reckon you should trade down to a standard 34GTR

don't go stripping it or anything daft like that

Bolt on wise,

Free up that exhaust!

3" or 3.5" turbo back from the dump pipes with a high flow cat.

Your engine and turbos are all N1 from factory so you won't have to touch any of that (Just yet...) LOL!

Factory Boost of 1.2 Bar (17.4 Psi) which is plenty (For now...) Hehe!!

Stock Intercooler, Air Intake and BOV are fine stock.

An APexi Power FC would do you good + a dyno tune.

Upgrade the suspension, although it's based on the V-Spec II, which has very firm suspension, you will need to upgrade it or you will get a bit of body roll when taking the corners hard / fast (If you remember I took you out in Alex's Nur and there was a bit of roll...)

Your Factory Brembo's should be OK (Start ripping you wallet in half for top quality Calipers and rotors) but make sure to use Top quality brake pads.

Upgrade your tyres or get some Nismo LMGT4's wheels and put top quality tyres on.

(HKS Adjustable Cam Gears come in handy, but that's if you want to start going internal).

im sorry to say this but i agree with one of the previous comments, sell it and buy a stockie and do that up. people appreciate your car because it is a NUR, not because of the power it may make.

(if i was you id sell it buy a 32 and put a 51R on it :thumbsup: haha, not much keep up with you in a straight line then :) haha)

Can you drive?

A silly mistake can put the car into a wall and then its all over! You would want to have years and years of racing experience before taking out a car like this, when youre on the edge theres not much room for error if you know what I mean.

Its an expensive car to race with!

A silly idea i think, just for the sake of 3 letters when people ask what car you have.

Everyone do their Gtrs up to the N1 or Nur spec so what else need to be done?

Most people will just get use to the car until they are confident enough to go faster, and that's when you'll start looking into what's need to be done. I'd say all you need now is a cat back exhaust, Racepace catch can - tune.

Do some driver training with the boys like Christ, Snowy, Ferni........

i have to agree with what has been said so far mizzi...

- sell and buy a base model if you wanna modify

- sell and buy a done up car if you really wanna go fast

IF i were you, i'd take out the interior bits and wrap them all up in the house nice and safe, then do zorst, ecu, cam gears, EBC, suspension and rims

you'll get a bit over 300 AWKW and can re-sell still :thumbsup:

Hey all, thanks for your oppinions, there is one thing that everyone keeps bringing up and thats the re sale value, i don't care how much i could sell it for in the future, and i bought it for $70,000 wich is pretty good for a stock nur.

In one hand you have... People appreciate a stock Nur, Then in the other hand you have the more exciting point of having something that is limited and is still off its head. Its sort of like having something top of the range and making it personal and to a better level.

At the end of the day a GTR is a GTR, i just can't see the point off selling something that is higher up to downgrade (if thats the word) to something where you could just as well do the same to that...

some options

1)

sell your car

buy BNR32

cheaper, lighter, and more money left for modifications

2)

sell your car

buy aarons r34

away you go

1 is not an option when 2 is there :thumbsup:

Give Aaron a buzz and get him to take you for a spin in his car. Make sure you don't take your GF with you, you'll look pretty stupid being on a hard on in front of her :)
