I have decided to keep the nur and just do it up, i feel there is no point in selling it just to drop down in models to modify, to make a car perfectly the way you want, leaving it stock is just not the answer (in my oppinion). The pic below is sort of the way i want to go about it, less the front bar and bonnet. Similar color (custom), same wheels and side kit and will still be a nur. Resale won't be the best, but as long as i have the car, i only care about how it is for me.

i don't care how much i could sell it for in the future, and i bought it for $70,000 wich is pretty good for a stock nur

If that is the case let me be the first one to offer you in writing the opportunity

to sell your car to me when you are bored, for the princely sum of $10,000 dollars.

I'll even put down a 20% deposit to confirm.

sorry just joking but of course you care how much you can sell it for in future, just

like you worked out how much it was worth when you bought it.

Why dont you post this in the Forced Induction section? I think you already make like 3 threads about this car in the Vic section alone. We all know its sexy, enough showing off... lol

Hey all, thanks for your oppinions, there is one thing that everyone keeps bringing up and thats the re sale value, i don't care how much i could sell it for in the future, and i bought it for $70,000 wich is pretty good for a stock nur.

In one hand you have... People appreciate a stock Nur, Then in the other hand you have the more exciting point of having something that is limited and is still off its head. Its sort of like having something top of the range and making it personal and to a better level.

At the end of the day a GTR is a GTR, i just can't see the point off selling something that is higher up to downgrade (if thats the word) to something where you could just as well do the same to that...

you paid 70

buy a mint v-spec for 50ish, blow 20k setting it up!

or wasnt ferni's proven car going for 40?

Should've got a Z-Tune then. Money's obviously not a huge issue for you

There's one in Melb with red plates [ZTUNED]. I think the owner would be happy to part with it if offered enough cash...

Seriously, being a Nur, the engine and turbo's are N1, so you're already ahead.

If you're looking for "fun for street and half-decent for odd track day without being a huge defect magnet" I would go

- Apexi Power FC

- EBC (either optional PFC EBC or get standalone EBC eg., HKS EVC5/6)

- Apexi Pod Filters

- Catback exhaust

- (HKS) Split/dump pipes

- (HKS) Cam gears

This should be good for around 300 rwkw and cost around $4-5k installed and tuned.

If you want to spend more time at the track racing rather than cooling off your engine you should invest in

- (HKS) oil cooler

- Sump baffle (helps prevent starvation)

- maybe bigger injectors + fuel pump/regulator

- maybe Nismo AFMs, though not sure if these are already on Nur?

Another 4k

Once you have these, go for...

- Adjustable coilovers

(I'd get Tein EDFC as well, but that's just me... I am lazy re adjusting)

- TE37s/LMGT4s + decent street/track tires

- Better brake pads

Probably 7-8k

Anything left over, go for

- Rotors/6 pots

Another 6k

You can probably get away without being a defect magnet up until this point (about $23k or so). When you start going into aero parts/carbon fibre, aftermarket FMIC/piping, upgraded turbos/engine etc etc etc then you enter the world of severe diminishing returns and severe ass-raping by the cops/EPA.

This is what I am doing with my 34 GTR (2/3 down the list) and I really enjoy how each and every mod changes the character of the car a bit. I love the feeling of feeding and upgrading your car so that it grows with you... kinda like a pet  I'm not experienced at all with modding, so other people may have better ideas.

lol phat boy, thats my setup.. heheh.. minus the NUR tho.. only a 32gtr  btw! wad brakes r u going for? i m on the hunt for a big brake kit.. wanna group buy? haha

Haha... not up to the brakes yet. Still saving for the suspension/wheel mods...

What brakes are you thinking of getting?

the number of people telling you NOT to srtip and cage and track the car exclusively has got to tell you something. a nur, esp in jade, is valued because it is a nur, not for how much power it makes, or what mods it has. quite the opposite in a "normal" r34 gtr. your plans make me sad because there'll be one less clean, original spec car for me to dream of purchasing

dont track this car man. just dont

do these mods, keeping your N1 furbo's and you'll have a 320ish rwkw street car (tune for e85 and you'll get 360ish)

strip the interior and all the stock parts you can and wrap them up nice and safe somewhere

- 1 very fast car that can be returned to stock and sold on as an original NUR (just not to anyone on SAU) :woot:

if you are going to track this thing, come to the vic meeting tonight.... find a guy called mick and start a freindship, cause your gonna need it :D

    • Well, hydraulic lifters will get noisy if they are dirty/fouled in some way, and exactly how that manifests will depend on exactly what schmutz is where. There is a procedure on here somewhere for dismantling and soaking/cleaning them. Replacing them with new is about 50% of the work and about 5% of the money!
    • Thanks for the reply @GTSBoy this is is a hydraulic lifter engine. Yea right i did not realise the lifters were supposed to be compressible while installed. I could push them down but i had to lean almost my while body weight on them.  I have never heard of a lifter/ lifters ticking only at hot idle and getting worse the hotter it gets. I have owned a few jdm cars with noisy lifters. This noise is slightly more subtle, it is more of a sharp gentle metalic tic than the solid and more loud tapping I've heard on lifters. I have used a metal rod, alloy tube, hose and stethoscope and could not find the source of the tick. But it appears to be loudest on the actual engine block behind the exhaust cam gear and next to the oil filter. I had mate (40 year old mechanic) go over it with me and he couldn't find it either..  Could it be a cam seal issue of some sort?  Cheers
    • This seems problematic and unlikely at the same time. Vanilla RB2Xs have hydraulic lifters. They do have "zero" clearance, but only when running with oil pressure inside them. When not running, you should be able to compress them and obtain heaps of clearance. RB26s and Neos have solid lifters. They should have ~0.3mm and ~0.5mm on the inlet and exhaust respectively. If they have zero clearance then bad things are happening. With nothing else being wrong, it would mean that the valves would be held slightly (ever so slightly) open when they are supposed to be closed and it should have all sorts of problems when running, caused by leakage in/out through the valves. Or, zero clearance can indicate severe valve seat recession. None of it is good. Have you used a piece of hose as a stethoscope to try to localise the noise?
    • Sorry for reviving an old post, but I'm having the same hot idle tick issue. Did anyone ever find out what it was?  I have checked/ replaced Injectors Coils checked Lifter clerance (is at zero) Checked Cam lobes Replaced exhaust gasket and studs Would appreciate any advice this is driving me nuts
    • There's a huge reason manufacturers are tuning in dead flat torque curves... Make them reliable (and more drive able)
