How sweet it was to sit in the members and remain dry, whilst watching The Chad chase Stiffy from deep in the Crows backline all the way into the F50 and have a shot goal... Chad looked a bit puffed :merli:

I tipped the Crows, but didn't see the 70pt thumping coming! Port really missed Brogan, probably his aggression more than anything else - Port still won the clearances.

Huge game at AAMI this weekend. Hawks are starting to show signs of their premiership form from last year, Buddy is starting to hit form, and they still have a chance to sneak into the 8 and make a lot of teams nervous. Port have only lost 2 games at home this year, Saints by 66, Crows by 70... What do you Port lads think? Can Port bounce back and get up against the Hawks?

On a final note, was sad to hear about Brodie Martin's ACL. What a damn shame. From the rookie list, to the senior list, to 2 huge games for the club, and even burning off Saint Nick in the process, then bang! ACL gone and off for a knee reco'!

im not exactly confident about port over the hawks this weekend Matt. Ports poor game plan against the crows last week goes to show what its like for them against a tough & fit side (playing the way they have been lately). Hopefully they'll adopt & prepare some better tactics/plans during the week, and put up a good fight. I'll be cheering for port as normal, but i think i'm going to tip the hawks!

I watched the hawks and geelong game last week; pretty solid effort by the hawks. They just may have stayed in front if they managed to pot a few goals in the last quarter there instead of those behinds

It's hard to know which Port side is going to turn up, hey Luke? The loss to the Dees was the game that would have pissed me the most as a Port supporter. The Crows weren't too flash against the Dees in Melb' either, but to lose to the Dees is saying something.

Contain Buddy and Roughhead to 2 or 3 majors apiece and Port can win it, if not, no chance. Port need to be much cleaner with their F50 entry, move the ball quickly and attack. Hawks will employ the zone exactly the same as the Crows just did and will look to repeat their play on at all costs game plan that should have toppled the Cats - Hawks lost that game when they had it in the bag. Cats F50 entries were well down, they just managed to convert when it counted.

tell me about it mate - that loss against Melbourne was just disgraceful! Like you've said, you just don't know what its gonna be with these jokers... so unpredictable! The best game this year for them was the win against the Hawks in melbourne - they gave it everything they had; fast paced attacking, far less defensive play where they are stuffing around handballing/chipping to eachother - they moved the ball to their forward 50 very well in that game resulting in plenty of goals on the run. Cant remember who it was, but i think Carlile was on Franklin that day, and he did a bloody good job keeping him away from the ball as much as possible. I think the hawks did have a few of their usual players out injured in that round however - i dont remember Roughhead playing that day.

Nevertheless i hope we smash em again, but yeah- the odds arent in our favour!

Crows and Geelong Saturday, that should be a beauty!

Tipped the Cats, it seemed like the sensible move. Fair chance the Cats will give the Crows a 40+pt loss. If we can stay within 3-4 goals I won't be majorly upset.

That's one tip I really shouldn't have got... damn it! Close but no cigar. Bloody good effort from the Crows, both the senior guys and the young brigade. Reilly's best game in a long time. Stiffy was good too. Good to see Burton back up his effort from last week, with another 4 goal performance.

Cats backline is under pressure at the moment and today was our best chance at beating them, with both Scarlett and Taylor out, and Harley a bit out of touch in his first game back from injury - he also copped a knock to the head during the game.

So many chances to put scoreboard pressure on them late in the 4th but just could do it - Sellar missing a target, big Ivan missing. As much as the loss will hurt, I think they can still take some positives out of this game.

Tonight's game is huge for the shape of the top 4! It's a game the Pies are expected to win, which usually means they lose :) Don't think the Crows can make it now, I'm tipping we finish 6th at best. I'd like to see the Pies finish 5th, the Hawks sneak into the 8 and go into the finals 8th, and that means Pies play Hawks and go out in straight sets... the Pies are the Hawks whipping boys

Awesome effort by the boys..........that's Port 2 Premiers 0 for this year!!

LOL it was our turn to win this week anyway, so regardless who we play next week, it's our turn to lose again.........haven't won 2 in a row all year!!!!!!!!!

Watching the replay on FOX now.

good on port for the effort against the Hawks today, was a good game to watch. a decent four quarters!

if they lost however i would have got 8/8 in tips this week :P

Haha ye of little faith mate! I tipped Port, and therefore got 8 from 8. Port have still only lost one home game in season 2009 - Saints by 66pts. Showdown 27 was an away game for Port.

I would have much preferred to get 7 from 8 and watched the Crows get up. Big Ivan needs to watch footage of Jordan McMahon's (sp?) effort after the siren for the Tiges today. That's how you slot them when the game is on the line!

I said to a few people about 2-3wks ago, Port will still make the 8. In the remaining 4 rounds they've got 2 winnable home games against the Blues and North, a trip over west to face an unpredictable Freo at home (smashed most weeks, but can put up a challenge at Subie) and you can probably write the Lions at the Gabba up as a loss. I'd say Port will finish 11 11 or 12 10, and with a low %.

As for the other potential top 8 contenders (those with 8 wins to date) Bombers are gone, have to beat Saints, Lions, Hawks, and a trip to Subie vs. Freo. Hawks are still in with a decent shot, Saints in Tassie will be tough, but 3 games at the G vs. Crows, Tigers, and Bombers aren't out of the question. If the Hawks can get 3 wins from 4 they'll finish 11 11 and with a low %.

Port are in charge of their own destiny from here on in, if they can beat Freo over there then they are in the box seat to hold on to 8th, possibly even move to 7th depending on results of other games. No matter what else happens Crows should secure finals by the end of the game against West Coast at AAMI, but a win next Sat night would be better.

If we can't do Freo.....ANYWHERE, then I don't want to make the finals, no point.

I we lose next week Choco should just thank the year out IMO.

Pete, don't under estimate Freo playing at home, with Pav firing, and the Freo boys playing for a contract next year. Freo already know they can secure a decent pick so they'll be happy enough to avoid tanking this round.

I'd be very worried for Port as they travel west and prepare to face Freo :P
