Hey Guys,

I've done a search, but couldn't find anything. I know it's probably been asked before, if so just point me at the right place. Anyhoo, i was thinking of taking my car down to the wakie day (sounds awsome :D ), but i'm concerned that my rather stock car may break :woot: lol

mods are only: 3" full exhaust, r34 smic, high boost solenoid mod, and some rims.

My main points of concern are:

1. The guys that put my rims on also put some spacers. Not sure how serious this is, but it's in the back of my mind

2. My brakes. My rotors definitely need machining, as i can feel some shudder on hard deceleration. I would get that done beforehand, but will the stock breaks handle the intense work-out?

So my main question is has anyone taken a stock skyline to the track, and was it able to handle it?

I'm not expecting it to break any records, just want to make sure the car will be up to it.

Stock r33 GTST's actually have proved themselves very reliable at wakefield.

Bleed the brakes, make sure its got a lot of oil in it, dont bother washing it, then come have fun.

The brakes will have more wear than on the street (well, duh), but nothing to worry about as long as there's enough pad material left and the rotors arent too thin :woot:

lol what tyre place puts on spacers to fit wheels for u?

anyway, id check that.

but yeh, fluids and pads need to be checked, if ur pads have heaps of meat left just leave them and watch out for fade, but as far as fluid goes get something decent as fluid can boil and go without warning.

Marcus I ran my very stock gtst at a heap of track days for years and had almost no problems. Like yours it needed new discs/discs machined after every couple of track days, and as said above you should have new oil, properly bled brakes and a wheel alignment.

Just get a good workshop to check the car over and make sure everything is OK (they are getting old, it might need bushes replaced or similar), and get rid of the wheel spacers unless they are absolutely necessary.

Nissan built an amazingly capable car from the factory, don't be concerned about giving it a bit.....they love it.

MUST DO: Flush your brake system with a decent brake fluid like Motul RBF600 (I think thats the number). You WILL get brake fade after a few laps with just regular fluid.

Its more important than anything else, cause when youre coming into a corner and theres no brakes, fresh oil and a wheel alignment wont stop you from hitting a wall :woot:

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll get the brakes done this week - I've got some QFM pads ready to go on once the discs are machined. While they're there I can get them to bleed the brakes for me ;)

Now just the spacers to worry about... i had to go and get dished rims didn't I :P
