Hey heres an idea guys, STOP BREAKING THE LAW, :uh-huh: then u dont have to worry about losing points.

Consider how much uve spent on fines and how that money could have been better spent at the track or on mods. :nowigetit:

Because by and large, speeding fines and licence suspensions are an absolute crock. I've been driving for over 15 years now, and I've only ever lost 1 point for doing 72 in a 60 zone. So yeah it was way back before it became a 2 point offence, and it was also from a car-mounted camera which flashed me from the front at night. ie, also back before they decided it was dangerous to do this. I currently have all my points available.

I do however open it up fairly regularly, and since you lose your licence for doing 20+ over the limit these days I would have lost my licence thousands of times over if I had been busted everytime.

But I only speed when it's safe, and only for very short periods of time, ie, to get away from idiots or to overtake slow moving trucks and cars etc.

If there are people who can get off speeding fines when they know they were driving safely (but speeding) then I would congratulate them, not put them down for trying.

My advice to anyone else wanting to speed but keep their licence - do it safely and only for short stints, and check your mirrors to make sure there are no cops behind you before you floor it. It's not foolproof because you might not notice or the cops might be in unmarked cars, but it has definitely helped me a lot over the years. Don't hoon through blind corners or crests, that's just dangerous for everyone involved.

Get into the habit of going no higher than 5kph over the limit unless you're in Victoria. Five over should be enough to keep you in front of the slowpokes, and just ignore all the hoons going past you at higher speeds.

I agree completely with JimX.

Ever since a skip truck decided to merge into me as I was cruising along, and smashed up the whole side of my car, almost killing me in the process, i've always sped past trucks and never stayed in anyones blind spot longer than I have to.

I wasnt even in this guys blind spot, he was just a bloody idiot. His excuse to his supervisor was "The car was so low, and it was black!"

hey guys,

i hate to drag this thread up.. was just doing a search and this looked like a likely thread.

bought some p-plates the other day to replace my current ones (which faded to sh1t). anyway the back one fell off (it wouldnt stick). girlfriend noticed it and i looked in the back of the car - and it had disappeared.. so i said faak it, i have a spare plate at home, i'll whack it on then.

just my luck - pulled over on the way home.. and there goes 3 points.

my real question is: i only have 3 points left. does that put me in a "0 point" club (ie: behave), or does it mean prepare for tough anal?

i'm rooted either way, as im fairly sure i have another point coming which was "held back" because of the western ring road camera testing.

to top it off i pay $160 a month for udnerground carparking in richmond. so can someone tell me if i'll be catching public transport to work for a while? :D

simon

Yeah 20 odd would be awsome i only have 3 left to get around on for 2.5 years all my fines have been speeding in safe situations and an alleged 50 zone, these all really shit me because i know what i was doin was not putting me or anyone else in any danger, and i just payed $$ to the govt and extra ins premium for the sake of a hidden TAX!! that we all cop.

It sux ass

i got booked for running a red light when i didnt run a red light. my car was over the line and into the intersection, but the F$%kwit of a cop (not all cops are like like this but some are) thought otherwise. wouldnt take no for an answer and admit he was wrong.
