well i got my car dyno tuned today with the newly installed SAFC (only version 1)

261.6hp (195kw) @ 10psi

I didn't get a 'before' graph sorry guys but the difference is extremely noticeable once you get above 4000rpm. it just screams all the way to redline whereas without the SAFC it felt very hesitant above 5000rpm.

I'm happy with the result.

My mods are:

  • Cheapo pod filter enclosed in cold airbox
  • R34 GT-T SMIC
  • 3" X-Force front/dump, X-Force hi flow cat, Trial cat-back exhaust
  • Turbotech MBC @ 10psi
  • Apexi S-AFC
  • Stock turbo, ecu, fuel pump

here is the graph...

looks like a nice curve. Just a shame they didnt do a power run 1st.

Im surprised they didnt run the car on the dyno before the tune actually, what it takes 10 seconds? Then you proceed with the tune, and theres your overlay.

That's awesome dude, well done.

getting mine put in on thursday. pretty much the same mods (rb20 actuator not MBC, and catco metal cat) as dnbosiris. excitement!

Let us know the outcome a.s.a.p!

wanna sell me ur safc? pm me :P

x2 :)

Might be worthwhile looking at an eManage Blue or even an eManage Ultimate. The blue is basically a SAFC but with adjustable ignition timing(very worthwhile). The eManage Ultimate is like a lesser PowerFC with a few less tuning options, but on a car with a few mods you won't know the difference. Once concern is that some tuners may not know how to tune the ultimate.

You can pick up a second hand eManage Blue for the same price as an SAFC, and possibly an ultimate for around $500-700. You can get them new with the harness and all software required for under $1000.

how do you it doesn't lean out your car if you haven't had a dyno?
you dont have to get a tune, just pay the $70-80 bux for a power run

GOTrice is correct, if you are going to leave the stock turbo on, stay with the SAFC2 or a neo. at a dyno meet with i was pulling more Hp than some people with power fc's on stock turbos. just get a good tune with it.

Just getting back to you guys, ran it today just to make sure everything is okay (running MINES ECU). Here is a copy, made 207rwk. The graph and ratio looks good to me but im no expert. Mods are as per my signature.

note thats a 3rd gear dyno run

it should be in 4th, you cant use that to compare against other r33s as the diff gears is different

it shouldnt matter if the dyno is setup correctly, but it does so yours is probably more like 160rwkw

Hi Guys,

I currently own a S2 R33 with the following mods/upgrades:

Front mount cooler

12 psi through turbotech boost controller

3 Inch turbo back exhaust

Hi flow panel filter

Adjustable exhaust cam gear

Everything else is stock and it made around 162kw atw recently on the dyno.

Hmm, yours seems very low for those mods.

My s1 auto pulled 173rwkw with

pod filter

12.5psi with turbotech boost controller

hybrid fmic

3.5" Trust cat back

and lots of misfire due to coil packs... (hence why dyno curve is shit)

th_dynosheet2.jpg

got a 3" split dump and high flow cat ready to go in and waiting for some coil packs... it should make close to 200rwkw with all that.

Oh btw, have you considered a remap? What is your ideal power goal?

Lets say you wanted 300rwkw in the end. Save up and buy all the parts you need for that goal, there's plenty of info on here. Buy everything you need, put it all on at once and get a one off remap. In SA most people use r32 ecu's remapped for the rb25, you loose vct but the overall gain is a lot bigger anyways.

I personally don't know that many people who have bought a PFC, did everything they wanted to and then kept getting it re-tuned. Usually they just get a proper tune and leave it. 2k wasted imo, considering a remap with r32 ECU retails around $500 these days including the tune (in SA anyways).
