Hey guys,

I havebought a 1989 C33 laurel that is auto and running a firey CA18 engine (made the silly mistake of buying it when i didn't know much about the engines in these, but hey it had low k's :P ) and im looking to do a full RB20det manuel conversion as i am not looking for a fully fledged drift mobile, i am just wanting something thats a tidy street crusier that can pick up and go when the need be.

I have a guy who is going to do the conversion for me and i am waiting on a parts list from him but i though i would ask here first. But is anyone able give me a parts list as im guessing it wont be as straight forward as a RB20de to RB20det conversion? I have asked a few people but everyones part list is different so i've come here to see if i can get a real straightforward list of every nook and cranny i will need and all the possible problems that i will be looking at running into.

So any help will be much appreciated from anyone that has done the conversion in the past and can point me in the right direction.

Cheers

Not a huge fan of the wheels but its the least of my worries at the moment.

What part of NZ are you in?

would be worth jumping on nissan silvia nz forum to ask/source your gear

I will give you a bit of a list as i have done mine in last 6 months.

I presume it has the foot brake instead of hand brake?

handbrake and cables

Gear stick boot and centre consol

clutch pedal box, pedal, clutch master and slave + lines - i used r33 gear here but i had to moddify the pedal box to fit.

front half of tail shaft

I cut the brake pedal down as its huge for autos.

not sure what you plan on doing for wiring but you will need to bridge the inhiditor plug for auto, its located in a bunch of plugs by battery.

I havn't stated what motor box bits you need as this should all come as manual package.

theres probally more but theres a start.

Cheers for the help mate, I'm located in Auckland. I was going to give the Silvia guys ago but didn't really know whether or not they would just lead me to a differant forum and i thought this was sort of the closest forum to what i was looking for.

Handbrake - R32 and cables to suit - make sure its mounted on an angle or it will get in the way of reverse gear. I know from experience haha.

Manual centre console - Cefiro

Clutch pedal box - S13 or A31

Clutch lines and cylnders slave/master - A31 R32

Tailshft - either A31, custom one piece or you will have to join to shafts together i think its an r32 front shaft and the auto rear shaft. (cant remember exactly).

As MattNZ said you'll have to brigde the park neutral start swith located next to the fuse box (from memory its the thickish wires 10 gauge i think or maybe 12 black and brown wires.)

Engine side of things its best to get a front cut as everything else you will need will be in it.

Loom may be tricky as its been rewired to run the CA18.

hope helps ya out a bit.

good luck with it mate.
