Has anyone asked their dealer about LC2 or tried it out for themselves yet? >_<

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought it was:

R R R

mash brake and accelerator, wait, and then, bam! let go of brake.

I am a pussy and have not had a go in order to conserve the drivetrain.

i tried it once but it didnt work. Revs only went to 2500rpm and the "launch" was lackluster. I dont think it worked. Someone mentioned somewhere that tranny temps needs to be within a certain range otherwise it doesnt work?

yes i have read the same on NAGTROC, 'you have to get to operating temps'

RRR is not how you launch on LC1 cars. so i'd say the process would be the same for LC2? it's R R off. and remember the first R drops out if you switch between man and auto modes etc. and it will re-set sometimes. the best bet is to drive normally in normal mode. then come to a complete stop. then switch to R, R, Off. then go for it.

i could be wrong but i dont think you need to turn VDC off now (with LC2)

yeah I have a feeling you are right. as I remember someone saying the improved TC is what gives the better time. does the S2 GTR even have LC? I thought it didn't but all this talk of "LC2" made me convinced it does. I understood when they released the S2 GTR that it did not have any type of LC. you just nail it off the line and go from there. so you can't hold it on the brake with the clutch disengaged at 4500 rpm anymore. I don't know for sure. I haven't had any serious fun in a S2 GTR. all S1 JDMs for me.

I think there was some confusion when the TCM was revised (the USA 'recall') where a bunch of media outlets initially reported that Launch Control was "no more". Turns out the same functionality (apparently) exists - albeit with launch RPM's not exceeding about 3000rpm or thereabouts now. I guess it's never been officially acknowledged as "launch control" anyway. Apparently the 4800rpm clutch dump with LC1 was intended to projectile your $150k car out of mud or snow...... (because that would really work)......

yeah I always dial up about 6,000rpm in the old GTR and step off the clutch whenever I am bogged off roading in the swiss alps... lol. works very well... at spraying skiers with snow and mud.

I guess you could say. "sorry officer, I saw a patch of snow on the ground and had to use my snow release mode, i then only accelerated for 4 seconds to make sure I was clear of it. and somehow ended up doing 120 kp/h. I didn't think that was possible.".

ok i tried it again tonight and got it to work.

I had it in RRR mode - i didnt try any other mode.

Basically you have to mash the brake pedal then ABSOLUTELY SMASH to accelerator pedal (revs rise to 3000+rpm) then let off the brake pedal.

It's obviously some sort of fly by wire throttle so it feels stupid smashing the loud pedal like that, but it's the only way it will work.

If the revs only go to 2000 ~ 2500rpm, then you havent smashed the gas pedal quick enough.

After you let go of the brake, it rolls forward, but there is an amount of lag (about 1 second) before the thing takes off.

interesting.

did it feel any different to a normal 'aggressive take off' without LC?

It did feel pretty quick once it got going, but to be frank i havent really done any agressive driving on the street otherwise, so i am not sure how it compares.

I'm keen to try it but brookvale nissan told me I had to wait til 2000 kms before engaging R mode, previously I'd heard I only had to do 1000 kms. Is this what you've been told also?

I cant remember what they told me in respect to R mode. I wonder what it says in the manual? (if anything)

personally I'd wait at least 5 mins before engaging R mode.... ;)

and LC with the JDM cars you just had to have your foot on the brake, not pushing it really hard (it acts more like a switch). and with the accelerator you just had to push it too the floor, didn't matter if you mash it in a hurry or just slowly push it to the floor. either way worked. and then once it's there the car would hold 4500rpm. once you get off the brake it's like activating the 'go' switch! the clutches start to act and the brakes are released in an instant. and away you go at up to 1.2g of acceleration. and be ready with the upshift paddle as you are about to hit the rev limiter in first gear...

Interesting!!

I did the same and measured my 0-100km time as 4.1

I think that slight lag at the start may rob us of the claimed 3.3secs claimed from Nissan for the ADM 09 GTR

I have only had my red car a week. Beautiful to drive and so muck more refined than my R33 that I have had for 12 years.

"i did the TCM update last week and found out that u can launch GTR at 4000 , just when the RPM gose to 2500 or 2800 RPM release and the before the RPM go back to 1000 kick it again and it will reach 4000 RPM"

yeah, HPC in Gold coast says 2000km too, btw has anyone tried the snow mode?

apparently the automatic shifting is supposed to feel smoother according to a JGTC driver reporting on best motoring, tried it myself and it kind of did feel smoother but not sure whether it's just my mind playing games with me

I just tried LC for the 1st time today.. Your right about being ready with the upshift paddle, feels like a slingshot! What an experience!!

I think LC1 and LC2 are different, in order for LC2 owners to be able to perform LC w/o voiding the warranty Nissan has made LC2 RRR instead of RROff
