I seem to remember somewhere way back I read (perhaps in the G35 manual) that if the ecu doesn't get the brake signal for a while it goes into throttle limp, not sure but keep it in mind if you do attempt it.

Mmmm..... Boobies!!!

My car pulled 5 more psi(so 15psi)by the time in hit 3,000rpm on stall..... Got there a lot quicker too on stall!

Launches hard!

Well done guys.

If you want to try it, its pin 55 on the ecu. Its a pink wire with a blue line.(around the middle of the plug.) Just make sure you tape up both snipped ends well.

(Dont hold me responsible if you damage anything please.) lol.

Wouldn't dream of it ! I've already lost my ECU harness virginity. No big deal now :P.

I was going to run mine via a switch so I could break the connection or return it to normal at any time. Going to label it "Off" and "Fun" lol.

That way if there is any issue with the ECU getting suspicious after a while (hey, I just don't brake, OK) it is easy to fix. Throttle limp sucks :yucky: .

so use the emanage relay outputs to disconnect the brake line signal till around 50km/h

The good ideas have been coming thick & fast the last few days. Loving it

OK, so some ideas are better than others, but you catch my drift, LOL

Aaron, to clarify a little on what the Impul ECU is allowing.

First, set the Informeter to recognise 100% throttle is 4.12V

Now, When I do a launch from a standing start I get around 45% throttle till about 10kph and then I get 100% throttle.

On a stall launch, I get around 45% throttle. (But this was not done properly as too much traffic around).

But I love  this solution... looking for wire cutters on the weekend.

First Andy, try this out.

With your foot off the brake for a few seconds, try and launch. Does the throttle go straight to 100%? If it doesn't, unplug the throttle body for a few seconds and try it again. Mine definitely goes full throttle from a standing start without the wiring mod.

Then snip snip.

I've been seeing some references to this figure lately and 2 questions come to mind.

1) I must pull out the manual & find out how to change this setting, and

2) why 4.12V?

By my actual voltage measurements on the throttle body & driving around, each 1V equaled 20% opening as displayed on the informeter. That makes sense if its default is 5V equals 100%.

If you are saying that the throttle does actually open completely, and this happens at a lower value than 5V (totally believable), then where did this magic 4.12V come from?

BTW, the max voltage I read was 4.04V so it's not too different anyway.

Even if it is 86% it wont make any difference to the power output, we have a massive throttle anyway. It may be done on purpose to swirl the air in the plenum.

Remember that the minimum voltage wont be 0v either. It is just the range of resistance the TPS gives.

Yep, from memory the minimum was about 0.6V at (cold) idle & maybe 0.56V when warm. I think you're right - guess it doesn't really matter if not physically opened 100% if the engine can breath all it needs. However, it would be interesting to see, via a camera, how the theory stacks up to reality.

If you could find a nice clear piece of 3 inch pipe to clamp to the throttle, you may be able to see it. The throttle opens to 100% in neutral and park, also without the wiring mod. (that was the other path I was going to work down if the snip didn't fix it.)

Are you going to be right to twist the wires together if it goes into limp mode tomorrow Craig? Or just restart the car I guess. Let us know how it goes mate.

no limp mode yet!....what am I the f#$king test mule?

Yup. :P

Don't worry Aaron, I have faith in my dodgy mods. lol.

oh trust me, if anything was to go wrong, knowing this Stagea, it would've slapped you in the face just as you are about to cut it.

Just frustrating it was that simple. lol
