im sorry but gonna have to say this,

but why f****g bother getting a supercharger if you are going to try and hide it? really think about it. that is the most f***d up thing ive heard!

why are you going to try and be a hero and take the risk of having something in your car that you are not allowed to have in the first place! you will get caught!

and?

ur point is? its my money and my car. i shall do what i want and how i want and i dont care what you think about it.

uuummm.........

anyway, to the thread starter: dont bother,

1. this will cost alot more than you think, and will take alot longer than you think, by the time you complete it, you'd probly be off your P's anyway

2. even in NA form, you car will have more than enough balls to drift. if your really keen, spend a little on suspenion, get a decent diff etc, possibly even shorter gears (dont know what options you have here though). stripe some weight out of it too. you should be able to hold it on the limiter in 2nd easy enough, with stockers/gay tyres, you could probly try 3rd even, although i dont like your chances (havent driven an NA so cant really say).

when you add up the cost of these mods you wanna do, wouldnt it just be easier to buy an R31 and drift that on weekends? that way its cheaper when you blow it up/stack it etc, and you stil have a car to get to work on monday :P

um, i've seen a s/c'd na skyline in vic built at great expense. it was bitterly disappointing to the owner who thought they were gonna end up with something more special than a lightly modded gts-t, disappointing mainly cos they didnt end up with anything particularly special at all.

the way i see it, building a supercharged skyline that goes as well as a lightly modded turbo skyline is like swimming to tasmania when there is a perfectly good boat you could have jumped on in the first place.....

all the best anyways i guess

not even gonna bother to address the nuff nuff who is keen for more power so he can "spin his back wheels whether the cops like it or not" lol

im curious to know what they did. or by the sounds of it, what they didnt do,.

umm dude, im not the one wanting to put a supercharger on my car, to "spin the wheels better"

im not on my p's secondly.

and i know how much it is going to cost. i know how long it is going to take aswell.

and thirdly.......im not into drifting, it isnt my scene.

and fourthley.......i got a daily!

read it again, only one bit of that was directed at you, the very first bit.

look honey, you cant get all uptight telling this guy he shouldnt do it, because you dont like his reasons for doing it, then go and get all pissy when someone tells you, you shouldnt do it to your car. granted, doing it your way will be alot better but thats not the point

the SC14 supercharger ( from the 1GGZE - I am assuming ) isnt a bad peice of gear, It will give you a decent power increase. However for what you want to do I dont see it being cost effective. By the time adaptors to mount and connect to manifold etc and everything is fabricated the Cost is going to run pretty high I would imagine.Factor in a new Computer, injectors, pump maybe ?.. Maybe modified 1GGZE mounts etc may make it a bit cheaper...But certainly not an easy cheap job...

sorry i didnt read it properly my bad!

the thing that is getting to me is that he is acting like a cowboy about the whole situation. i can see the engine going bang within a week of doing it bacause it wasnt done properly. so there goes his money and time down the drain. all for the sake of "getting my wheels to spin more".

i have 3-4 mth of research behind me at the moment and a amazing team of people that are going to be working with me on this whole project. the difference is im not being a cowboy about it. im doing it the right way and nothing is being overlooked. im just trying to save the dude by giving him realistic reasons why he should do more research about it, and realise its not just a modification that you can slap on and a way you go.

tell you what, I'd love to see an RB30S sporting a 6/71 type blower!!

Seriously though, supercharging (esp the SC14), and even twincharging was explored by some in the VL Turbo community years and years ago, in the end it's not a whole lot of gain for the expenditure, especially compared to a turbo setup. Castlemaine Rod Shop do a kit for the RB30E here : http://www.rodshop.com.au/supercharger_kit...ercharger_3.htm , on their test car it went up from 80RWKW to a tyre searing 110rwkw on 10psi! WOOHOO!

If you want to be different for the hell of it you may as well put an RD28 diesel in your car or something.

OP: You're doing well at making people think you just want to drive like a dickhead, not much sympathy for that around these parts.

SC14 is too small to be really effective on an RB25DE as well.

MissR34 are you chasing 750hp at the wheels or at the engine. Either is a massive power output. I assume you are running one of the Vortech V1, V4's or V7's.

I hate saying it but I don't think you will make the power levels you are after however good luck chasing them. Either say with half the power it would still be a great car to drive.

i understand where your coming from now, but keep in mind, hes not building the car to the same level as you though, he could probly get away with bolting it on and running low boost. he has obviously overlooked a few things, ie how big the job is, and possibly upgrading management (i dont see this as 100% necesary), but i think thats what this threads about...

lol @ OP being shot down in flames anyway

PS - 6/71 on RB30 has been done, in fact an inlet manifold for it was for sale on ebay a few months ago

ill be running a Vortech V1 T-Trim.

should make about 500+ rwkw at the end. the whole engine is being built for the supercharger itself. and for some reason im finding that im excited about getting custom cams made lol. the engine is being built like any other supercharged engine would be. eg heavier in the crown and pin (in the pistons) due to higher cylinder stress.

i have all faith in the 3 people that are the main "boys" of my build, my tuner, my engine builder, and the dude im getting the supercharger off of. all 3 actaully know each other too which is a bonus, and all 3 have said i will make the power with no issues. :)

That charger is only rated to 825hp. You will be running it right on it's very limits to be able to produce 500rwkw in fact there is an M3 running that same blower and it is only making 460BHP, although I am not sure at what pressure they are running it at.

i guess it also comes down to what has been done to the engine aswell. im going all out! im storking to 2.7L ive got custom cams being made to suit the supercharger to help with max performance levels as well. the entire engine is being built around the specs of the T Trim and what is going to help make the most power it can.

i have all faith in my 3 main boys that they will get her at about 500 rwkw.....

While not requiring oil and coolant supplies from the block, the advantages of a super-charger are few, they cannot match a large turbine for displacement of air, require engine power, and who needs boost at 1000rpm anyway?

You need to work fairly hard to extract 500killerwasps from an engine with turbos, that is going to be a shit-load harder with a SC - and you have only got a miserable 2.7 litres to work with.

I doubt you will see more than 300hp at the wheels, but for argument's sake - are you using a centrifugal or roots-type super-charger?

im curious to know what they did. or by the sounds of it, what they didnt do,.

had a quick search but i'm not sure there are any details on it still around. was a black r33 gts + s/c built by a guy called nick in melbourne. had big transformers stickers over it and was shown at auto salon quite a few years back. put out under 200rwkw from memory, i think around 180.

if you havent already, i suggest you check out posts by a user on here called NA_R33. his car is actually for sale for about how much you're looking at spending on your 2.7+s/c

Cara - I honestly suggest from the bottom of my heart & soul, rethink the engine plans

a properly prepped RB26DETT would be so much more interesting, practical, affordable, and would suit the project 1000 times better IMHO

guys alot of you are missing the point with Cara, she is trying to do something different. Obviously doesnt care about the cash but wants something unique. Good luck to her and the SC is what i say.
