I have noticed a whining noise coming from the front wheels, and admittedly only had a good look today to find that the fron wheels are rubbing badly on the upright connecting to the upper control arm.

when i bought the car it already had spacers on it, 4mm only though

and arnt they illegal? in NSW?

Yup, they're illegal everywhere. Most of the upgrades you do are so why not spacers?

If you want to stay legal man, I suggest a new set of rims with the correct offset.

Have to agree, from those pictures there is nothing rubbing there.

Sounds more like its either tyre noise or wheel bearing failure.

You may laugh at the tyre noise comment but believe me, I have seen and driven a number of cars now where you would swear something was seriously wrong and after swapoping wheels and tyres the noise simply dissapears.

Those marks in your pictures are in fact impact marks and would not be caused by something rubbing on there.
