Well I have had these seats sitting in my bedroom for the past 2 years now without doing anything with the as they were to difficult to adapt to fit into my Laser ...

Now that I have bought an R32 skyline and the seats are just sitting there collecting dust I thought enuf is enuf I will finally put them into a car

So the new Saas SP3003 seats in red and black are going to be put into my R32

Just ordered a pair of R32 seat rails from justjap in sydney without a doubt I will probbably have to modify the rails slightly to make them fit but atleast the rails are suited to the R32 :laugh: so installing will be much easier hopefully...

Neways here is a pic of the seats

Hopefully the rails arive in the next couple of days :thumbsup:

Be careful when adapting aftermarket seats to standard rails.

If you dont have a certified automotive installer (someone who has been trained in fitting baby seat bolts, seat belts etc) make up the brackets for you, not only are you risking your own safety but your car can be defected... You must be able to produce an engineers certificate for the install for it to be legal.

I am getting prefabricated seal rails to suit aftermarket seats that bolt straight into the R32 from Just Jap in Sydney .... $400 for the pair of rails delivered

No way in hell am I attempting to adapt them to the stock rails again ... stuff that I have done that in another car already and that was a bit of a stuff around job eventually got the seats in my other car and they work great but was a big over engineered adaptation to the stock rails ... too much stuffing about

I like the term 'over engineered', LOL! Safety is paramount. Like Bullet32 has said, you can get defected for no engineers cert', but that's almost anything these days. Difference is, seats tend to stand out, and it's an easy starting point for the rozzers to lube up their rubber gloves...

All good ... nothing that they can defect me for in my car ... besides maybe the window tint ... but that's only really an issue at night time if they really want to be picky...

I keep the rest of the Car in tip top condition mechanically

I'm not trying to pick on you Mick but it doesnt matter if the seats are ADR approved or not... All that means is that the seat itself is considered safe to use on Australian roads.

Even if you get pre-fabricated aftermarket rails that bolt directly on to the car and seats, you still have to be able to produce an engineers certificate for aftermarket seats.

The reason for this is that if you have a crash, whether its a big front, side or rear ender or even a small shunt/nudge, if your seats are not 100% correctly installed you can easily suffer severe, permanent back and neck injuries that will haunt you for the rest of your life.

I have a close friend who is a certified seat belt, restraining bolt and seat fitter who has told me the horror stories of people who have cut corners in these situations and believe me when I say - I got chills down my spine listening to them.

Do it once, do it right - For your own safety. :(

Yeh, only seats you can change to without a certificate is ones from the same model. So, GTR seats are okay!

Depending on what type of seat(ADR approved or not) you get and the level of modification requires a different certificate. I think it'll be easy to get it certified if it is all ADR approved. That's my understanding anyway:
