R34 Gtr Air Intake Question

Hey guys,

Im wondering about the section that connects to the standard air box through the passengers side (the guard). There is a section there that looks like a tear drop when taken out. It's like a secondary air funnel besides the main one that goes to the front of the car. This one is on the side and connects to the guard of the car.

I was told that that plastic bit (teardrop) actually pops out? I thought it was one piece? Can you pop it out?
