go the Fcon, as a Stand alone it will be a much better ECU if tuned right, and as you say you have the goods.

I can guarantee a few people here will be HIGHLY interested in the results of an FCON.

good work hooking that up.

good work hooking that up.

this is guna be a projec and a half , well i got some good info time to start playn around

ill start with the ecu and go from there as any mod after can be done with tune

yeh i've also heard your going to scott for some fabrication work. good decision lol

ye i like his idea of a turbo set up good researchn on his behalf

im also after a dump pipe and front pipe with sports cat to suit a kaki n1

and for now hopfully ill get a copy of his manifold adapter to use while i look at getn a full custom manifold

S t High tech

quoted a full stand alone ecu hks f con pro and install for 4 gs

what you guys recon go for it or na go emanage piggy back

S t high tech Soichi is well know tuner for nissans used to work for nissan japan before comn to nz

he recomends the hks and recomends satnd alone when upgrading turbo

also hes like a farts distance away from me 30 sec drive

( drool appeares at corner of mouth )

I can buy an Fcon for $1800 in Japan, it will come with a plug in harness and all required sensors, is he charging you 2 grand to plug in a loom and tune it with the help of preset maps? Sounds way too expensive when you compare the results im getting with a $600 unit.

The HKS unit is still a piggyback unit but YOU cant use the software, unlike the Emanage. It has greater tuning resolution which you realistically wont notice and a few extra adjustments apparently, but wont adjust cam timing or throttle as I understand it. I agree it is probably the better unit but at 4 times the installed cost it would want to be...

I wouldn't bother with the manifold as we are restricted in turbo size anyway due to the factory placement, im pretty sure the stock manifolds will flow 350kw which is around what a GT30 will ever flow.

Check out the HKS 350z kit, they used our stock manifolds by the looks of it, meaning it wasn't worth fabricating. I could make one but engine out job means it probably isnt worth having the car off the road for another week.

he is talking about using the full hks stand alone ecu not the piggy back

price was for harness and install

also he is well know for tuning skylines and is very competent with the hks plus being around the corner kinda makes it all like the way to go

Edited by Sidius

and I thought I was spending lots of $$$ on my car...:whistling:

well all i know was that he said for the nm35 with the turbo that i bought and mods i want go full hks stand alone with install

gather that hell work it out

dont the stageas like getn a new ecu ?

I agree, HKS is a good option, but at that price I would feel ripped. Is he saying an Emanage Ultimate cant do 300kw? lol.

he just said he prefers hks has used it for so long and has used it on so many skylines

also being ex japan nissan tech he said he prefers using them with the nissans

http://sthitec.co.nz/

check out his diary, about us and cars hes done

Seriously dude, doesn't mean shit unless he's worked on an NM35 or VQ25DET before...

so far he's shown that he doesn't know the FCON V Pro for the VQ25DET is going to be a piggyback setup.

Not sure if that's a good start. I mean everyone's gotta start learning somewhere...you can do ECU swaps but you'd need to import them from Japan. Nismo/GZONE/Impul...

You can pick up late model fcons off this forum.. for 500ish.. buy the loom for 400ish from japan and vola!

and you better hurry.. as m35 shit for fcon is going to be discontinued...

p.s. sometimes people think fcon vpro is standalone in some cases... but in a few it isnt.. m35 is one of them as is gtr.. simple mistake..

Saw one go for $500 but that was AGES ago. They're bloody rare...same thing on firesport...

    • Sadly I can confirm if you are actually seeking to drift, you will quite easily spin up one wheel. Even if you're going in a straight line. I am not entirely sure of the metrics/terminology here but there's only a certain amount that the helical will actually spin both wheels. I've seen it on video with my own car where two lines of smoke switch over to just one after you really get in to it. Unlike with a clutch diff where you can keep your foot planted until the car regains grip, in my experience with the helical you want to be utilizing traction control allowing LIMITED slip or lifting (partially) when you start to spin up both tyres with a Nissan helical. Which makes them pretty sub optimal for drifting duty. That said... this is probably a helical on numbers alone. Just put the Kazz in
    • Let's just fix the problem by f**king the rest of the gearbox.
    • Unlikely, as per Greg's post. This is not helical diff behaviour unless one wheel is up off the ground. Shimming what? You don't "shim" a mechanical LSD. Probably not in the sense that you have heard of people "shimming" a diff. And the process that Nissan f**kwits call "shimming" a diff involves super-preloading a VLSD cartridge against the side of the diff to create a friction/wear point (in a place that it wasn't supposed to have one) to make the sloppy, useless, viscous diff into a hybrid viscous/mech abortion. In case it isn't clear, I consider the process to be stupid. Nike.
    • How much does the shifter move when the car is in gear with the engine off? If it is more than about 1cm you need to replace your shifter bush. Your shifts will just get crunchier, not faster, with a short shifter unless you also rebuild the whole box
