Well for those that want to listen ................ both, or all 3 cars shown for that matter, I haven't said they DON'T FIT, I said .............

"And might look better if the tires actually fitted the rims?????????"

The legal issues with tires is simply this.

To all those that choose to have them set up this way.

IF your involved in a FATAL accident and your tire fitment is not 100% legal and as per the ADR rules of the car .................. YOUR GOING TO GAOL! or at the very least, your going to be prosecuted for causing the accident.

Think about that! Ponder your life after you have hit a pedestrian or another car and caused the loss of a life, because I can tell you first hand what it's like to hit and kill a pedestrian and with today's legal fees, I can tell you you will need many tens of thousands of dollars to defend yourself.

The police confiscated my car and had it for over a week trying to find something, ANYTHING that was not stock standard that they could use against me in court and the best they could do was quote braking efficiency %'s and that I had wide wheels.

All my cars will be as the tire fitment is designed.

Mitchy,

Why didn't you consider 235/40 instead of 45 profile?

The 40 profile would have sat better on your 9 inch rims and also been a lot closer to the preferred dynamic radius and been another 13mm lower which may have cured the rubbing on the guard issue.

Have a nice day!

D

I agree with Dennis. while the first poster's tyres don't look too bad IMHO (and if they're listed as suitable for a 9" rim, then there's legally nothing wrong with them) anything more is just plain dumb and illegal. Of course for optimum performance, 235 on a 9" rim wouldn't be ideal - better to stick to a 8" rim. But then again, I get the feeling the car wasn't built for ultimate track performance.

Now, as for fitting 215 tyres on a 9" rim - well that's just a plain wank, nothing less. Just because a bunch of idiots in Japan do it does not make it cool. The concept of severely restricting a car's performance potential just to look "tuff" is akin to removing springs and riding on bump stops, or big bodykits that do nothing more than add weight. Sorry - it's pure rice.

If you accept it for what it is, then that's fine. If you sit theere and try convince others (and yourself) that "they fit with absolutely no problems whatsoever", then you need your head read.

love your passage man... wish my coupe was as awsome and runnin lol hence streached tyers to fit

You are so lucky your thousands of km away.

We are pretty laid back here, but f**k this thread has stirred up a shitstorm

I think we all have to agree that car modification is in our own tastes and personal likes, and if some of us prefer safety to good looks then so be it, If some know that safety is more important, it only shows who has either more life experience or just a few more brain cells than the average p plater...

Like those wheels

Are they Superlites?

What offset are they

Like those wheels

Are they Superlites?

What offset are they

17x9.5 -19 i can gather from his post...

mine are 17x9 +15, and his seem to sit about 40mm further out like the negative offset would suggest.

if they are legal, then there must be some sort of ADR testing done etc to prove if they are safe or not

If they are, then great! Make sure you print off the ADR page with that stated andd keep in your glovebox for the day you might get pulled over

I think i will spectate now, you can request admin to clean this thread up too...

im curious how much boost wwas the kkr 480 pumping to get 300+ at wheels, hefty number

about 17psi, to be honest i think that figure is a bit 'high', but when i get it retuned its going for 20 pound

Dynopic.jpg

all i can say is good on you mitchy for doing it how you like it :D your 31 looks tuff as nails hows the traction with the 235s?

cheers. :P

just depends how you use the throttle, they are perfect for normal driving, but give it a chance and it will paint lines in the first 3 gears. :)

All the tyre/wheel issues aside - it looks to be a pretty neat package, but I have to ask in regard to the first dyno graph, what's with the AFR's?

It dips well into the 10's for a while there. To me that seems to be dumping fuel in for intercooling effect (preventing the pistons from getting 'religious'), where less timing (or preferably less boost) would be better for everything involved (including power & torque).

Can you provide any more info on that run, or is that tune now history with something 'happier' taking it's place?

    • I like it when the counter chick leads you out the back into the racks and says "have a grub around in here and see if you can find what you need. I'll be back in a few minutes. Just left me in front of a massive motorised shelving system and 2-3 million fasteners, so I could find a peculiar SS shoulder bolt with cap head. Gotta love country towns.
    • I used this https://osgiken.com.au/product/os-giken-os-250r-lsd-gear-oil-80w250-1-litre/   shut my nismo 1.5 pro up by heaps…. Not silent though. Gives the car character and personality. It ain’t a carolla. If you want silent, put a quaife in it.
    • It's about the same time for me from Bunnings, or the Fasteners. My big push away from takeaway food, and gluten in general keeps me away from the Bunnings Snags too! Weather up here, I've been out for two walks today in the beautiful sunshine. Had a few little drizzles, and some wind, that honestly, a tin of beans and I could compete on how harsh she blows Thankfully, being this bit inland, we're not getting anything much really. Will probably pick up a bit more when/if Cyclone Alfie decides to come ashore. A few areas in the GC though, and south into NSW are really getting smashed though! Right now, I'm just annoyed Alfie hasn't hit, as I'm not allowed to crack into the BBQ foods like the bacon and eggs until the Cyclone hits "In case we lose power"...
    • I love fastener joints, the price difference between them and joints like Bunnings or Super Cheap is amazing, and they either have exactly what you want, or they can get it to quick They have even given me some for free when I only needed a couple of specific size In saying this, I have paid premium for fasteners from Bunnings if they have the sizes I need, but only for convenience really, as my local is only 10 minutes away, the Sushi joint near them is also a consideration  How's the weather Matt? Stay safe mate
    • Wideband is worth setting up if only for tuning purposes. I would not mess with the ignition system unless there's a misfire. HKS crank trigger is popular out here for the relatively easily sourced Denso crank sensor, not a bad idea to install as well regardless of power level on a standalone. Boost leak test is worth thinking about. Oil pressure sensor tied to a fuel cut isn't a bad idea either. Getting the tune figured out is a good idea. Without putting eyes on it and getting under it there's no way for us to tell you exactly what it needs but most likely you're down to the last 10% that will make a big, big difference in how happy you are with the car.
