My car seems to have had the abs removed (no more abs unit with the metal brake lines coming out of it in the top right hand side of the engine bay), and is showing a 4WD fault light on the dash. After consulting the Nissan fault codes for the ATTESA ecu, it came back with:

Fault 8 ABS actuator motor, motor relay, or circuit

Fault 9 ABS actuator relay or circuit

Fault 18 ETS pressure switch or circuit

Apart from fault 18 with the pressure switch, could the other two faults that relate to the ABS (which has been removed) be causing the 4WD system to shut down?

The front wheels dont seem to have any drive, and the torque split gauge shows this as well...

was your car always like this?

ok... well what happens is... the ATTESSA depends on the ABS sensors to operate... as well as the AWD system.

so when removing the ABS system, you need to trick the ATTESSA by rewiring a few electricals...

and apparently this does the trick.

Hi eeiko. Well I have only had the car for a couple of weeks, so can't be sure how long it's been like this for. I was thinking that tricking the system might be the way to go - any idea how this is done mate?

heya

well someone has done this before...... i think it was someone on this forum years ago

but it may be a bit fiddly with the electricals but should be pretty straight forward...

so how good are you with handy work?

I have experience with fiddly electronics, and work as a sparky so I have some idea :)

I like to tackle most things myself if possible!

there was an article i read on this

and apparently Auto sparkies dont understand how the ATTESSA works

ill have a sticky beak through and ill PM ya with details

its definately not hard to do

Hey thanks mate :P , that would be mucho appreciated! I have been doing research of my own but sometimes with these things it's like looking for a needle in a hay-stack...

I removed ABS from 32 GTR and it made no difference to anything, same with Hicas, just removed all the plugs and everything else worked same as before. Maybe the wheel sensors have been disconnected.

did you do it yourself?
