Which Turbo Gt3582r Or Gt3082r?

Recommended Posts

you will be very happy with the gt3582 with the .63 housing.

I had pfc, zorst, plenum, bla bla, pfc, injectors etc with a GCG GT3582 with a .63 rear.

Starts to hit boost at 2500rpm-2800rpm. Full boost by 3500-4000rpm. It didnt choke up top, it just kept pulling and pulling and pulling.

I made 240-250kw on just 16psi of boost.

It depends what u want form it tho. I want more, so i'm swapping the rear housing to a larger one.

But if your happy for a solid 250-300kw with fk all lag, and good torque, u wont be dissapointed with the gt3582.

I loved the response/torque for the street and track.

Feel free to pm me if u have any questions

All on a stock as a rock engine, internally.

I made 345rwkw (22psi) with a GT35R and a 0.63 rear housing (had surge holes in compressor cover).. dyno sheets etc are in my rebuild thread from long ago (just search msnismo rebuild in FI).. In the end that was about the limit due to cat restricting flow and possibly the rear housing although it still wanted to make power. The only thing about the 0.63 rear is the power delivery was very linear and you didn't really get that kick in the guts you get with a big turbo. Hence why I upgrade to a T04Z (0.96 rear) and not as laggy as you would think :domokun:

Same setup on stock motor (including the poncams), I had it limited to 300rwkw on less boost... 16psi (could of been 18psi?) Motor blew due to other reasons, however when pulled apart all the pistons, rings, bearings were perfect except the one that picked up the metal floating (not my fault either ;) )

Either or they are both a good choice... GT30 easier to lowmount, GT35 can be lowmounted but alot of stuffing around so more of high mount scenario (and cop bait at times)

IMO putting a 700hp front end with a choking .63 rear is pointless.

Better off going a 3071 if you only want 250rwkw. It will be better in every single way.

Umm... the GT30 and GT35 use the same cartridge, comp housing and turbine housings...

So how one is 'easier' to swap and another is a bit silly as they are dimensionally the same size. The difference is the wheels inside the housings.

If you are looking at performance these days then turbo tech has moved along to a point you don't need to stress about an in between. Get an FP HTA GT3582R, will give SFA response (if any) to the GT3082R and make more power than the GT3582R :)

I have the 3082 on my standard rb25 and at 19psi it's pushing out 420hp, sometimes I wish it was more responsive but I've never been in another gt30 variant to compare, but I don't mind it.

My next upgrade is to go the hta3582r on a rb3025 or rb32/34 25 head running on e85 flex tuned...

With a rb25/30 I'd go a hta3586r instead of the 82r version. With the extra capacity you would think it.d havd to be on by 4000rpm. And with a rb30 stroker as you mentioned I'd be looking at a hat super 94 I believe there called Lithium correct me if I'm wrong.

Your welcome. There is always lots of good info coming up on SAU. You just have to keep reading and researching. But turbos have come so so far from gt3082r's I never liked the 56t 3040 anyway.

    • thanks for heads up on actuators - will sort something as back up or solution as yes dont need that have enough trouble but no doubt some addition of something to spares boxes is required yes have a clue about WTAC but nothing has been officially put out yet so will wait to see exact details Pro class is, has been and will become a draw card for lap records and one off builds for show and thats about it I think - be interesting to see how open they make it Pro am is the old Pro in reality Open class will be split into 2 with slicks and 050's with no doubt slight variances in allowable drivers and changes in aero Clubsprint + apparently a true street class   They have to and are refreshing it all and bringing things up to current standards and need to 100% adhere to rules because whether people like it or not / or say it or not - for alot of competitors it is sheep stations and has been for a while when Im getting told I was illegal because i cut my rear bumper too high and yet others where in the grey areas of legality with everything from engines, suspension, ride heights and more serious influences it actually got quite out of control and heated this year so as much as I may be impacted by some of the changes and prob spit the dummy when I have to spend money changing things I think its a good thing for all

    • Start with a multimeter, and see if you're getting power at the TPS. There should be a manual for your car somewhere on these forums and it'll have the info for what closed TPS signal voltage is, and how it should sweep to full throttle. Same as for other sensors / valves.   Have you checked things like your base timing etc? See if anything looks amiss there too?
