Yeah we do....

But are we gonna trust these seals in a 10yo+ car... I think not. Espesh for the little effort it will take to rag or tape it, a lot less then if they get water in them ayyy?

I just do mine down at the car wash place. Give everything a spray with the engine/tyre cleaner,let it sit for a couple of mins and then spray it off. I used the high pressure rinse setting but only pulled the trigger for the tough bits, the stream from just having it on was enough for most of it. Also, I didn't bother covering anything up, I just avoided the Pod filter. Everything in the engine bay gets wet while driving in wet conditions anyway, I just didn't go crazy with the pressure, just let the soap do it's job.

I hold no reponsabillity for damages occured by followint this procedure, it is given as a guide only.

Ok, ex detailers in put. Run engine to operating temp and turn off, cover exposed pod/s with shopping bag (plastic, not reuseable ones lol). If running no coil cover, place a couple of plastic bags along top of coils to stop them being drown. Wet down whole car ( alot of degreasers will remove wax and polish from panels).

Start spraying you chosen degreaser (Export stuff is basically kero!, better off with Auto Glym or Kenco or another reputable brand), start from the front edge of the bonnet and work back towards windscreen ( good idea to switch climate control off before hand). If you still have the sound absorbing pad on your bonnet, try not to get too much degreaser on there.

Spray engine from top to bottom, inner guards, radiator support and radiator/ac condensor etc. Try not to get too much on exterior paint work.

Let it soak for about 5 mins.

Start hosing from the bonnet down. Be careful of the bonnet liner, they really dont like high pressure and all the crap will drip over your clean engine as it dries.

DO NOT HIT TURBO/EXHAUST/EXHAUST MANIFOLD WITH THE WATER FOR AN EXTENDED TIME WHILE HOT !

Continue rinsing degreaser from engine bay, and also keep exterior panels wet too.

When finished, close bonnet and thoroughly rinse entire car.

Open bonnet, either use air/old chamois/rag to dry any pools of water. Start car a let run for a good 5 mins to let everything dry out. I normally take mine for a drive after just to get the rest of the water out of the chassis rails and engine bay.

exactly, i even used to spray the dirt out of my pod i would leave the car running and if it started to die stop spraying it and give it a little gas its only WATER

then after all that give it a few fist full of revs to burn out any water and away you go as for water seeping into coilpacks its so hot in there if water finds an inlet it will turn to steam before it wets to coils

So while ur POD was ON your intake pipe youd have your car runnign and spray it with high pressure water to remove dirt..... All i could see this doing is pushing it thorugh the filter and ito ur engine to remove it.....

cleaning it doesnt mean pushing it threw ur pod lol....

my vote is degreaser a light rinse, electrics dont like water... known fact... nor do hot turbos or exhausts etc. jamesrb25 obviously knows his shit on this subject... trusting him at this stage... covering pod and going easy!

if so then that is definately not good for the car mate....i always take my pod off the car and give it a nice wash, comes up clean and re oil it and put it back on the car making sure that the pod had dried up before re oiling it.....after that it runs like a dream

I use that K&N cleaning and oil pack thing on my filter. Leave it off to dry overnight...

Please people, make sure you cover your coils.

They may have a cover/seals but coolant spraying over my engine managed to wet mine and make me drop cyls. Its worth the extra care.

While car was cold I:

Bag of alarm (pod in box so no need)

Sprayed engine bay down with watered down ct18

let it sit for 5 minutes and carefull pressure hosed it off from a distance

Ragged up any large pools of water

Idled it for 5 mins block lap came home left it cool then sprayed a light coat of silicon spray

Driven it a few times now at running temp and this is how it looks:

might give it a crack this weekend, got some export but by the sounds of things, paying $1 for it was justified. got coilpack cover off to so i might have to be careful.

Kidafa, where did you get your pod cover? looks good

Made it myself with tinted perspex from Bunnings and some rubber edging from clark rubber. Has a CAI coming of front bar into it aswell.
