Hai guys how you doing, been browsing the forums for a little while now, just soaking up information on the R35, I'm finally considering on getting one but what bothers me is the current model doesn't have sat nav and a few other bits and pieces you'd think it would have for such a price tag (read this on another thread).. anyway i was maybe thinking this might get changed in the next year model?? Who knows but it's not uncommon for car maufacturers to leave out little things in early year models and include them later on to keep up sales or whateva.. So the R35 that is out at the moment is it MY2010 or is it MY2009?? Are we receiving a different year model next year to this years?

Because if I order one now, I probably won't get it till near the end of the year so I may aswell wait till early next year for the newer model if there is going to be one.. If the year model this year is the same as next year then I can place an order now, if that makes sense...

I have a feeling though that something like satnav won't be included in the near future anyway..

Yeah, unfortunate it doesn't have satnav etc but don't base your decision on that as the car more than makes up for it in other ways.

I wouldn't hold my breath for a model update with those features either. Nissan Aus has trouble enough telling you what's in the car they currently have on offer let alone what a future model will have

There are ways around the sat nav...not a big deal...what is a big deal is the performance. For 170 - 180k you will not find any car that comes close to the GTR, so whilst you would expect GPS in a car of this value, you would not xepect this performance in a car of this value...hence the trade offs.

Cheers

Hi guys,

Very new to the GTR stuff, but am looking at doing the same thing. I'm pretty sure we have the series 2 car anyway. It has the dark wheels and Nissan on the brake calipers and updated LC. The US get it as a 2010 model. We will probably never get GPS because of the cost for rights to the mapping. Nissan have sold 80% of the GTR's their ever going to sell here so they wont bother changing any options i dont think... :D

Ok I heard from a little birdy that next years model will be revised from this years and it may include satnav as standard.. If this becomes true, I'm very excited...

Wow you really like your Satnav eh LOL

I'd be more interested if they put the CF card like the JDM's in it so you can easily copy your music to the car somehow.

Go Test drive one if you can, once you do you'll forget all about your satnav obsession. Take a spare pair of underware with you though :)

there are a few more changes, some of them quite visible with air ducts on the rear and maybe front?? Interesting to see what the changes will be.. I'll be waiting for next years model... I don't wanna be one of those drivers that have a big sat nav screen stuck to their windscreen, looks cheap. But then again I probably won't be driving it to places where i would need sat nav, but having the sat nav going up the coast has gotten me out of trouble sometimes in my 350Z. I like everything nicely integrated and factory, but satnav it's not essential, just a comfort thing...

well guys, apparently we do have the hardware on the MY09 GTR for both GPS and the CF card (blocked by the Bose sound system logo) according to the UK forum, what we are lacking is the software.

Check out the prices on the lastest street directory. They are pretty reasonable & you can take a couple of minutes while the GTR warms up & know where you are heading from the start instead of driving blind & turning at the last minute!!!

Might just be me but I have never liked Sat nav that much & I have 2 new BMWs with the best Sat nav in the business ( they invented it in the first place!) I think they belong in the wives cars (lets face it - they are not much good at maps are they!)

BTW. if you want a good quality screen buy a JDM because the old pacman screen in the ADMs is pretty crap!

Ditto that!

We've gotten along without satnav this long. I can't belive how many people jumped on that bandwagon. Just sheer laziness. I know N, S, E & W... not hard to work out where I'm going from there ;)

I mean really... what else would you like the car to do for you? drive you there while you sleep? :(

*edit: missed a word... maybe satnav can type my next one for me :( *

    • So, I'm not a diff swapsies specialist, but I am pretty sure the 300zx ran an R220 not and R200 like the C34 Stagea, so I think it is of no use to you. As you said, all you need to do is get the centre swapped in the diff you have, which might be best done by a diff specialist. The current centre is probably desirable to someone to track so an easy path might be to swap your mechanical centre for someone with a standard centre (which is a viscous LSD, and almost certainly won't have any limited left). The only thing you have to watch swapping R200 internals between diffs is that the number of splines on your car's stub axles has to match the donor car, or you need the centre+stub axles and make sure they have the same number and pattern of bolt holes as your rear axles.  You swap your current ratio onto the new centre so you don't have to worry about matching the front. Alternatively, centres like the Nismo pro are much gentler (and have adjustable "tightness") so you could buy on of those from somewhere like Jesse Streeter or Nengun (noting it may cost you 1234% extra in tariffs by the time it lands)
    • Id just remove the solid subframe bushes.  you are over complicating things.  on a side note make sure you do some research on the skyline shed before buying from them.
    • Just got back from overseas and once again Rego and service time. Supercheap auto cant find my plates on their list to match my car to buy a crush washer lolol. NRMA has my number plate linked to R35 GTR which i have explained once again that it is not a GTR. Its scary in the sense that if somthing happens and my insurance wont cover me if its the wrong car on their list even though they are the ones that have made the mistake. Im not sure NIGHTCRAWLER why the neg comment? Its a 2020 V37 400R Skyline? and asking for someone to post their VIN number is crazy just to prove it? Its a legit Nissan Skyline from japan factory 400R its does use the Q50 infinity chasis but this is the Japan model.
