Won A Set Of Cams For My Rb30det

Recommended Posts

Unsure if you have modified the inlet yet but with a nice exhaust manifold and inlet manifold mid 260's make their peak power around 7000rpm.

Look at Al's RB30det for example, nice inlet and exhaust mani with baby 256 cams but that too also holds well to 8000rpm and with some absolutely ripping mid range.

Mine with 265's idles baby smooth but if slightly leaned out on idle it will start to cam over 'slightly'. So tune it slightly lean on idle and then enable the o2 to pull it in when you want it to idle smooth. :D

Mine went from ~14degree's on 17psi to ~20-21degree's at peak power and made an extra ~30rwkw on pump.

Went from nosing over after it made peak power at 6000rpm to holding power flat for an extra almost 1500rpm, when tweaked with gears peak power is up 500rpm and still holds just as well with no loss in power to 7500rpm (my limiter is also at 7300rpm as Im still running the factory balancer)

The ramp rate on my 265's are a little more aggressive that the grind you will be getting

Mine have 227.9 degree's at 1mm vs 216degree's at 1mm for yours so mine run a ramp rate similar to their 270degree grind.

hrmm.. In stating that I'd almost be inclined to run the 270's. ;)

i don't need the extra power. Just chucking these in because I can :)

I also love the fuel economy my car gets, i got over 230km's to half a tank yesterday lol - would rather keep it is mild as possible

Ahh its not so much about picking up extra power its making the same power with less boost.

Not an issue with E85 but definitely with pump as you run in to det issues well before your able to crack MTBT.

Fuel economy with mine is around 450km's per 50liters and I don't baby it. :)

Interestingly if I do baby it there's bugger all difference in economy.

Is that you and your car in boost Anthony ? I assumed so since adrian did the article ? (With the gizzmo Kmon) ??

Yep, sure was. He's a media personality now. I've made him a star!! LOL!

I dug what I read about the K-mon so much that I had to find someone with one and old-mate Pauly-D-Twoogle steered him in my direction.

Stoked, but I hope Anthony doesn't become a diva now with his new found fame!?!

I got the 264 with 9.35ml lift. Will do away with the VCT as well. will be very interesting how it goes. I will do a before dyno run and after run and send the data back to Boost magazine and I hope they will Publish it again.

This fame and attention i have been getting is addictive!! i hope they publish it ;)

Ha-Ha cheers also from us and Gizzmo, ray will be stoked. The k-mon is well regarded overseas (UK and USA) but receives little feedback here... good to see it got the well deserved plug. Ive been using it for years and was stoked when anthony wanted to source one from us as i knew it would take his tuning a step further.

I really dig it. I hope Ray feels the love too. I told him i'd do a story on it but i'm not entirely sure he believed me.

    • Well, maybe not. The main feature of Chinese manufacture seems to be incredibly variable quality, coupled with an apparent willingness to find a way to see even the stuff that fails QC. So the military could still take the cream of the production run and somehow sell the "sellable but not really useable" stuff to the stupid round eyes on the other side of the world.
    • Have you adjusted the clutch pedal rod? You can wind it in to shorten it. Just can be a cnut to get to.
    • Yes sir, that was me. Fake ARP's are also a thing over here in Canada and we only order from reputable dealers. It's sad that even simple things like bolts and hoses are now also being copied... anything to make a dollar.  Story time. Like all cheap crap from China, it's even an issue with firearms. Roughly 15 years ago, I purchased a new cheap Norinco 12g shotgun. First time out in the bush with it, while firing, bolt assembly didn't lock and it fired out of battery. The receiver also being cheap steel, basically exploded in my face. I was lucky to be wearing eye protection. Long story short, don't buy Chinese junk. Also Norinco being state run and their only military arms producer, if ever they do try and take over a country, don't worry about it lol.
    • Installed  Nismo coppermix twin competition spec last year in my bnr32 with pull trans with Oem slave cylinder. The point at where the clutch disengages/enages is right at the top of the clutch pedal, meaning I barely have to push the pedal down for the clutch to be disengaged.  You guys that have the same combo are you experiencing this high pedal bite point??   Secondly I’d like to have the disengagement point lower meaning I have to push the pedal more(further not effort)for it to be disengaged.  I’m thinking to use a Nismo big operating cylinder(bigger bore at 13/16 vs Oem 3/4) which will require more pedal stroke to get the equivalent movement at the clutch fork. But I see Nismo web site says not to mix these 2 as the Nismo big operating cylinder doesn’t have enough stroke to disengage??? Any folks run both the coppermix twin pull with Nismo cylinder??    Thanks in advance for the replies but prefer only guys with pull clutches to respond. thanks
