Lads,

Gonna grab a EBC this weekend. No idea what to buy to be honest. Happy to spend $500-700 bucks i guess but have no need for fancy f**kin screens and gizmos.

I hear the dual solenoid EBC are the way to go. Why is that exactly? What is the advantage technically speaking over a single solenoid? Or a boost tee for that matter.

Im not going to buy a Boost Tee thing as i hear they can spike fairly dramatically and i dont plan on replacing the turbo, thus ive disregarded the idea. Going to run 10psi as apparently its fairly safe. Ive heard i can run 12 max, its tempting, but im not game. Already told my wife ill do no mods to the car .... i managed to do the below on the sneak..

Mods:

R34 SMIC

3 INCH NISMO EXHAUST HIFLOW CAT

JJR SPLIT FRONT/DUMP PIPE

K&N HIGHFLOW PANEL

STOCK BOOST (although im running the high mode constantly..)

168 KW ATW so far.

Cheers

$700 on a boost controller is insane, there are cheaper options for sure

check out ebay and look for a 2nd hand unit if you want

just check their feedback etc. but for std turbo a single solenoid unit is fine

ive ran 12psi or 0.85 for about 4 years now on the same std turbo

210,000km and still going fine. my recommendation if you have $ to burn

apexi powerfc, hand controller and powerfc boost control kit

unbeatable

not sure

first off i did the boost hack (i made the howto doco)

then i did the hks EVC at 0.85 bar

then did the pfc boost kit at 0.85 bar

std turbo 210,000kms and still goes well

its been to drags, motorkhana, plenty of street abuse

mate get a turbotech one. it holds boost, but if you want to be in the safe place, go for the blitz sbc or the greddy profec spec b II, i was using iton the stock turbo and i compared it to my turbotech one, i relased it had a bit of lagg and spikking, the electronic one boost will come on earlier and hold better.

Cheers,

yeah i know and its a bloody good hack i must say. Certainly made a noticeable difference especially around town. Considering you have to be virtually full throttle passed 5k to even seen/feel the second stage, i rarely ever did. Simply concept too. I wired up a switch but ive left it on permanently.

perhaps i shouldnt worry to much about the car holding up then. Ive got 70k and its seen no abuse from me or previous owner in Japan. Serviced every 5k or less etc etc.

good to hear anyway.

get a turbotech manual boost controller of ebay, this would be the ONLY MBC id use. theres a big 80+page thread on here just search for it. + if your hiding mods from your wife i dont think your gonna go over 200kw & 12psi anyways, ive only ever heard problems with this MBC over 15psi, yet some people run close to 20psi, so you will defo be safe

this will do the job for under $40 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Turbotech-manual-tu...93%3A1|294%3A50
