Just Blew My Stock Turbo!

Hey guys,

I need your help once again. Blew my turbo. Drove it hard on 13psi and blew it. Im pretty sure its the turbo as the boost doesnt spool up+noise.

I need to fix the car asap so i need quick help, don't have time for much research that's the reason for starting a new thread, sorry.

What im after:

-turbo that's an upgrade, better than my stockie but doesn't need to be 1000hp either, something medium power.

Can also someone suggest me where i should look for a turbo/what shops/wreckers are good to call and check out?

Also, good workshop for the fitting of a new turbo, suggestions please

Im basically wanting to make about 240RWKW.

-so please if you have a suggestion, ill be keeping a close eye on this thread and all help is appreciated.

Read that firstly, will save you a lot of money, secondly look in the for sale section for a hi flow, they are a direct replacement and will get you around 250rwkw with good response.

Thank you for your reply. Hi flow is good option, but ill give other turbos a bit of a thought and ill make my decision in next couple of days.

Im 50/50 on maybe getting a bigger sucker or just going the easy option and hi flow it. In saying that, im not sure if i should buy one or hi flow mine, and what shops to call.

roughly what size? comparable to a GT30? or smaller?

I suggest you get a bigger turbo not a high-flow Turbo.

Yes, I have a high-flow and I'm making 235 kw and it's really responsive - but you will find soon you want more power, e.g. 300+ and you will have to get another turbo soon. You sound a bit power-hungry, so I suggest you go the bigger turbo now...the GT30 is a good size in my opinion.

Out of curiosity, Do any of the GT30's (3040, 3071 or 3076) fit under the standard heatshield?

for a bigger turbo you'll need ecu, injectors, afm, fuel pump, fmic, clutch minimum...

if you are happy with a good 230 get highflow you want need injectors, pump or afm

Bro you are probably right, i will get power hungry but you gotta draw a line somewhere. For bigger turbo ill need to spend extra 1k. plus labor for fitting turbo, plus full ecu,plus tune, plus injectors, plus all other shit, to be honest i cant afford so i have to be happy with 230 kw or so. But you are right, ill get used to it and ill want more...but i better not. f*k its like a drug lol

if you are happy with a good 230 get highflow you want need injectors, pump or afm

I have 210 atw and my injectors are at 100% and my afm is tuned to 110%

^ that doesnt sound right. injectors should see you to 230-240rwkw. afm should still be in resolution to about 230kw at least?

the stock afm is able to max much lower than 230rwkw

ive seen max and i have 190rwkw

you can still tune with it maxing, and its important to note when it maxes

maxing at 6500rpm means nothing, maxing at 3000rpm to redline

just means it runs like a map sensor and its annoying to tune

still workable, just have to juggle load points

its typically accepted that you replace it past 200rwkw

to ensure you use as many load points as possible, which makes for a better tune

And then we exclude "happy" dyno's and we are back to 200-210

anyway, lets tell the guy what he wanted to know. which turbo.

hks2535 or gt-rs. buy a used one, if on a budget. either of these is my pick over the highflow.

LOL, well i did get 223rwkw with the standard ecu, i then put in the pfc and had it tuned and got 210, i know the 220 was a happy dyno and the 210 was on a dyna pack which are known to be a little conservative.

ahhh so a little conservative, and a little bit happy, evens out at 220 in your case. we're getting closer lol
