Hi all. I'm looking at buying an R33 GTR V-SPEC 1996 model

but i don't like the look of the headlight cause they look dull. I was wondering if i was able to fit series 3 projector lights to em. I've heard that series 1 and 2 don't fit on either vehicle but what about series 3. if so where could i find series 3 headlights cause i've been looking and can't find any.

I Would appreciate anyones help at the moment.

Thanks

Series 1 anf 2 GTR headlights are the same.

Series 3 headlights will bolt up to a series 1 GTR, the wiring plug will have a lug that needs to be filed off to plug into a series 1 loom.

Very easy to fit and everything works as it should....

So i wat would i need to do exactly to fit the series 3 headlights? Is it just the plug or they just don't bolt up?

JAGR33 is certainly an experienced member, but I have to disagree, its different on the GTST's:

I'm sure its different on GTR's as well, series 2 and 3 are the same, but I do believe series 1 and 2 are different.

how do i identify if its a series 1 or 2. i'm new to skylines.

thanks for your help!

I'm sure its been posted many times before but I can't find anything when searching right now.

Anyway, different front, the series 2 are slimmer looking at the front.

The wheel is smaller, the series 1 steering wheels look more like a commodore wheel.

You should be able to search and find pics, or just look at CarSales or similar and you'll see the difference, most '96 model skylines are series 2, not all. Compare to the 95 models, there should be a visible difference on the steering wheel and front bar / headlights...

There is no mention of GTST's in the first post, ponyboy is looking at buying a 1996 R33 GTR VSPEC.

I'm very aware series 2 headlights on GTST's are different than series 1, I had a series 2 GTST ten years ago...

The zenon headlights on R33 GTR's first appeared in 1997, but are more common on 1998 models which are known as series 3's.

My car is a series 1 (95 model), I replaced the standard headlights with the zenons about 4 years ago. To fit them I removed the front bar, removed the original headlights, and bolted the zenons straight on. The only difference is the plug on the zenons has a small tab on both sides which stopped it from connecting to the original headlight loom. So out came the file and 5 minutes later the zenons were plugged in and working a treat.

In saying this the zenons aren't cheap. Expect to pay around $1400 EACH from Nissan...

This is what the zenons look like on my car....

Cheers ponyboy... :D

The only mess your get yourself into is the strain on the hip pocket.

Second hand people are still asking around 2.5k (excellent condition) for these headlights....

Good luck with it all....

Sorry, for some reason I thought the GTR's lights were different between series 1 and 2. It ust be GTST's only.
