Hi,

I just bough an R34 GTR Vspec. It's stock standard, except for catback impul exhaust and performance air filters.

What are the basic bolt-on mods i can do to get more KW from it? I spoke to someone who said i can increase the boost, get it tuned for the extra boost, and do a few other things (i cant remember what they were) and i could get it to 250 rwkw.

Some form of engine management - Power FC etc

Front pipes and a high flow cat if its a crap one.

Run 1bar+ boost and you'll get roughly 230+kw@ all 4 wheels.

Maybe playing around with an exhaust cam gear if you want.

Hey man,

congrats with the car! pop a power fc on, an ebc and a high flow cat and you should see 250ish at 4 wheels. Mine did the 255 with the mods there and its a great package.

+1 on the stock dumps, they are fine

ps: never stops though, expect to empty your wallet as you hunt for more power!

The simple recipe for 250kw in an R34 GTR is as follows:

high flow cat

good cat back exhaust

14psi boost via decent boost controller (buy one now, you'll need it in future anyway, trust profec B II is good, simple and cheap).

Apexi power FC

high flow panel filter, or pods if you like them

adjustable cam gears

front pipes can do them if you want but they are not 100% needed. but they are easy to change so may as well do them (HKS ones are the go).

get the boost controller, power FC and the cam gears tuned together on the dyno. it will take no more than a couple of hours and net you easily the 250awkw you want. it's a really sweet spot for a GTR. doesn't cost much. doesn't hurt reliability much. doesn't hurt response at all (better than stock) and the car will be great fun to drive. it's basically what you expected a GTR would be like standard!

One other thing I'd suggest if you like driving hard and plan on some track days is get an oil cooler. it has lots of good benefits and will help your RB26 live a long life. :D

And don't expect your clutch to last long if it's standard..

yep, the above mods will get you the 250awkw but if you really want to enjoy it you'll need:

clutch first.

some decent tyres

a few little suspension mods to get the most of the power.

some decent brake pads and fluid

and that should keep you happy for a while. if you want to go harder than that prepare to open your wallet wide.

What is everyones boost running stock? mine with just a cat back and stock everything else seems to sometimes hit 1.1 bar and then hover around the 1 bar point.

Is this common? It seems high to me but the car is basically stock except for a crap cat back
