If you have a GT2871, they're all worse then that...

If I remember correctly, the series 2 turbo had a front wheel made out of some sort of polypropolene that made it lighter and spool faster, but I could be wrong...

Either way, they're both pretty shit... Brittle exhaust wheels and tiny housings...

i did search and couldnt really find anything worthwhile, but i searched a while ago and i think i read the series II is a little biggER?

Nope, not bigger.

Made of different properties. S2 turbo can be boosted a little more as the material the compressor wheel is made of is lighter and a bit stonger.

Other than that, same shit, different smell.

assumption city

they are basically the same, the s2 cant handle more boost

anything around 12 or higher will kill the turbine, or put it at risk

running 12psi or higher, you are basically saying, i accept if the turbo fails and have $ to replace it

this is same for R33 series 1 or 2

the s2 has a different compressor wheel, but its far from stronger

Soooo what's different about it?

It's stonger. Search, and you shall find as well.

No, it's not.

Personal experience.

RB25s2 is not stronger than s1. The nylon compressor wheel like to delaminate when leant on too hard.. had one in the workshop not so long ago with lots of bits of nylon missing of the wheel.

I recently sold my RB25s1 turbo, that thing spent a year getting abused at 12psi on my RB20 and another year getting abused at 12psi on my RB30 while also being a restriction, which meant the exhaust housing was getting super hot and the exhaust wheel still didn't fail.

RB25 Neo turbos have a slightly bigger exhaust housing.

I think it's pretty much luck of the draw, boost it over stock and it can fail sooner than if you didn't boost it.

That being said, I still prefer RB25s1 turbos and will advocate them over the later nylon wheeled units.

I'd have to agree with the Series 1 turbos being stronger, but would also say the series 2 spool up faster. But when standard we're only talking like 100rpm or something anyway, it's pretty much instant!

Umm.. Series 1 turbo has a STEEL compressor wheel while Series 2 has a NYLON compressor wheel. BOTH TURBOS HAVE CERAMIC EXHAUST WHEELS.

Oh and doof, of course the nylon wheeled turbo spools up marginally faster.. that was the whole point of the lighter compressor wheel :D
