That would depend on a lot of things...

Just because a car has a lot of power, doesn't mean that you have to use it on the street.

The driving ability of the individual also needs to be taken into consideration.

If you need to 'give it a bit' to get out of a hairy situation, you want to know that you're in control..... otherwise when you 'give it a bit' to get out of a situation, you could end up with a worse situation on your hands.

The answer is 'whatever you feel comfortable with'

lmao red....

how longs a piece of string??

buy a car.... mod it until it feels right for u... mines at a decent level at the moment but i think its time to step it up a little as ive got used to the power now and can handle it pretty well.... i dont want to go as far as 200rwkw i think thats just a little too silly in a 32 GTST. My next goial would be to get abot 170rwkw or 180rwkw no more.

hehe.. i'm more for stupid HP, but how can i say unless i've driven it. Depends on the weight and feel of the car I guess. I'd feel pretty comfortable with 250rwkw in my GTS-T. Its never really "scared" me with 180rwkw or so, so I could do with more in a RWD. You get used to it.

No point going from 0 to hero though, thats just dangerous

A person’s opinion on how much power they want is proportional to how much they have.

For example. When Leewah first got his WRX he was happy with it for a while. Then he started to lust after more power, so he grabbed the GT-R and his was enough to quell his lust for a few months. Then he began to explore options for jacking the car’s output up. Gradually over the course of 2 odd years the car has grown into the behemoth we know it as today. He may correct me if I’m wrong here but he is still looking to squeeze more out of the car.

Most of us would agree that they want more power, of these; most will actually go out and get it. However it’s a special kind of bloke, whose appetite for power and speed is never satiated, that seeks out a car with weapons grade tuning potential like a GT-R and exploits that potential to the fullest.

My answer to the question of “how much is enough power?” is “How much power are you gonna choose to achieve?” Because while not all of us will seek to turn our cars into road missiles, I think we’d all like more from them…….., well, wouldn’t we?

Wardest... the philosophical!

mmm... what i would say enough is... for daily driving and so-on and still have some power.

me?

300-33rwkw would be my choice.

After that a car really gets unstreetable IMO.

My car is 'ok' now as it is, but it could do with a 100kw hike.

If you want torque buy a V8 :)

But yeah, Endless is 'driveable' to an extent. Depends on what you class as driveable.

I would be still after min of 300km'w to a tank, even with 300rwkw. I think that's possible.

INASNT? Only 250rwkw everyday?

your spending ALL that $$$ and only for 250rwkw?

I'm not that far away now, and my motor hasnt even come outta the car.

If i had race fuel... well... we could app make power :(

Love stirring him up.

INASNT? Only 250rwkw everyday?

coz i work in Hawthorn when i am actually in Melbourne and drive behind trams and never get above 80km/h to and from work.

That will be with bugger all boost, but understand that the turbo i am getting will pump out enought air for 350rwkw easy at high boost.

The race fuel will only be used so that i save my stock internals from blowing itself to pieces.

    • Hey guys I’m chasing a Rb20det complete or bare block need a good running engine as mine has low comp
    • You're making my point for me. 95 is not "premium". It is a "slightly higher octane" version of the basic 91 product. The premium product that they want people to buy (for all the venal corporate reasons of making more profit, and all the possibly specious reasons of it being a "better" fuel with nicer additive packages) is the 98 octane stuff. 95 is the classic middle child. No-one wants it. No-one cares about it. It is just there, occupying a space in the product hierarchy.
    • 98 and 95 have to meet the same national fuel standards beside the actual RON.  91 has lower standards (which are quite poor really), so 95 is certainly not 91 with some octane booster. It would be an easier argument to claim 98 is just 95 with some octane boosters. Also RON doesn't specify 'quality' in any sense, only the octane number.  Anything different retailers decide or not decide to add to their 95 or 98 is arbitrary and not defined by the RON figure.
    • Anyone know alternatives to powerplus tungsten? Can't find an alternative online.
    • 95 is just a scam outright. 98 is the real "premium" with all the best detergents and other additive packages, and at least historically, used to be more dense also. 95 is just 91 bargain basement shit with a little extra octane rating. Of course, there's 91 and there's 91 also. I always (back in the 90s early 2000s) refused to put fuel in from supermarket related fuel chains on the basis that it was nasty half arsed shit imported from Indonesia. Nowadays, I suspect that there is little difference between the nasty half-arsed shit brought in by the "bargain" chains and the nasty half-arsed shit brought in by the big brands, given that most of it is coming from the same SEAsian refineries. Anyway - if there's still anything to that logic, then it would apply to 95 also. 98 is only made in decent refineries and, as I said, is usually the "premium" fuel, both in terms of octane rating and "use this because it's good for your engine because it's got the unicorn jizz in it!".
