very nice. watching you twirl that momo like a young mark webber gets me all hot under teh collar...

have to go out to lunch now. good to see the car still trying to kill you too like most good R32s do!

Not a skyline but is a car that i get to drive from time to time. My Skyline was entered but just refused to go to this one.... So with some negotiation I got to take the cop car for a spin. I also wanted to show you guys the fastest and most open Street Sprint we have up here. The track is in the sleepy little town of Oakey, just over 1 hour from Warwick, just west of Toowoomba. Craig weston pulled 2nd outright in his 32gtr from Ray Vandacey's Skelta, 3rd was a 351 escort sportsedan, 4th datto 1200 2A closed sports with a turbo & supercharged 4A, 5th a GT2 porsche, 6th My cop car on all nissan suspension, 7th Jason Black Nc BDA escort, 8th supercart, 9th Evil 4, 10th Off chops WRX. We did ok.

Might as well post some of my in car from PI a few weeks ago....

First is my new PB lap....the fist pump at the start finish line at the start of the lap was when I saw a high 47 flash up on my previous lap ;)

and this is a collection of some overtaking. First part is me trying to overtake a big single turbo R34 down the straight only to be passed like I was standing still by a 6.6ltr V8 powered 260Z ....middle part is me catching and passing a GT3 cup car and last part is an ex(?)-V8 supercar - we came out of the last corner side by side only for him to pull away down the straight using ubber killerwasps. Two corners later his lead disppeared thanks to corner speed and I was able to overtake.

Enjoy

Posted this elsewhere but thought I would throw it in here...

Paul Stokell in my car at QR on the sprint track (yes I can hear the yawns already lol)

53.48 with some casual water in the dipper and on crusty old second hand slicks

my favourite part is Paul's inside manoeuvre at Turn 1 (4:55)

I managed a 53.9 today, dry track (crusty second hand slicks also) and not that pretty a lap. caught myself out braking too deep into turn 5 whilst watched Aaron Hodges in his crazy Escort park it in the dirt at the hairpin of turn 6 (1:45-1:50)

yeah, all my Vbox timed laps are usually 0.3 - 0.5 off the QR system. But I don't get too upset as I assume everyone gets the same error, as long as the error is in the same direction!

not sure though how this works for accumulated laps though. imagine 0.5sec over 5-10 laps..... QR must be able to bend the space/time continuum.

I posted my Vbox times though as this is what I compare to Paul's benchmark.

The S7 Michelin compound we used today was second hand and went off in the arvo session like you wouldnt believe. Arvo session times were over a second a lap down on the morning session despite some cleaner driver.

nice work mate. looks like you must be punching out somewhere between 250 and 300awkw? not sure if the cup car was a 997 or 996 but the 996s only have high 200s (anywhere from 260-290kw) at the rears but they are a bit lighter than us but still the way it pulled away on the straight makes it look like you're doing a lot with what you have. :D

how fking quick was that zed too!!! he must have pushed the warp speed pedal next to the accelerator...

Thanks Baron and you are spot on re the firepower - last dynoed between 270-280 rwkw at Racepace (have to dig out the print to be sure) mid year. Entry list doesn't specify year of cup car so would have to check photos to work out the year - at the end of the day I'm just happy to put in a faster time than a cup car on slicks even if it is just driver related :D

As for the zed, a quick internet search has rumours of the 6.6litre V8 under the hood being an ex nascar engine pumping out around 700hp :bunny:

yeah I thought 996 cup car too. but they are still bullshit quick. like I said pretty limited in the power stakes (similar to your GTR ant) but with a purpose built motorsport chassis (chassis is built with cage integrated from the factory), much lighter and of course slicks etc. I have driven one and they are a serious piece of gear.

Ive always known Lakeside to be a high a speed circuit but thats the first time ive seen the speedo on a vid too, thanks Callum!

and just saw natsoft too - fastest lap of the meet - top work!

    • I've been pondering this, I really enjoy the convertible thing, for me, it's like riding a motorbike, without all the issue of riding a motorbike, mainly, my old sore arthritic joints getting beaten up, and, being able to do it in shorts and a T-shirt and not needing a helmet and all the other gear required, especially like wearing jackets and pants in the summer, or needing 6 layers of cloths in the winter, or not having wet weather gear handy when your 100km away from home on the bike when it decides to start raining As for the hard top and its Coupe look, whilst I do lose all that open top feeling that I really enjoy, from my experience with the NB with a detachable hard top, the cabin is a much nicer place to be, the difference in noise for one, a hard top quietens down the interior, alot, with the soft top up or down it's pretty noisy, which, after 5 or so hours, can get tiring But, as you stated, the detachable hard top totally changes the look of the car, in a really good way, and for me, the look of a detachable hard top is so much better than the PRHT which looks more like a after thought with its weird bulbous rear roof line For me, the minimal effort of putting in on, or storing it after removing it, is well worth the time and effort for the look alone And yes, I'm sure the next owner will be grateful for it as well.......
    • I get into huffs with people when I suggest the MX5 looks so much better as a coupe than it does as convertible. Pretty sure I don't prefer the convertible version of anything. Good job on the hardtop! The next buyer will appreciate.
    • IMO wrap does have its uses, but like you said, quality wrap, and professional installation, would probably cost want a quality paint job does, but, the paint, if maintained, is basically for life, and much easier to touch up if required  In other news: it's pissing down here, with thunder, lightning and only some small hail "at this stage", luckily all "my" cars are undercover  I've also been contacted by a guy in Newcastle about the SS, he said he will come down next weekend for a look, we'll see how that transpires I guess 🫰
    • Nah, I'm not an a-hole, ha ha!   I do like the colour match. Some of the carbon fibre wraps are quite freaking horrible. There's one a local company I know uses, and it looks damn good! Also very very expensive per metre to buy! ha ha ha It might be cheaper to respray the roof than use the good CF Wrap, ha ha!
    • Please noooooooo 😭 As for wrap, no thank you mate, I've seen and used "carbon fibre" wrap before, and for these hard tops, they look soooo good when colour matched Like this >>>
