Yes....it's on the disclaimer but's that's technically incorrect as my convertible still has a roll hoop and is street legal.

I was bitterly disappointed with my first few runs so I did not care and just rolled up to the strip with my hood down :D

I thought they might send me off again but they did not

heheheh that was funny!!!

Hahah yeah was funny hey 9krpm! Just crooozin down the strip :D It would be a real hassle if they say next time u have to get a roll bar...

Btw all those videos that Nightcrawler have up show me getting really blitzed off the line. Argh embarrasing =( Ptty none of my good runs were against him!

Matt's 540s are still wicked - I have actually bought them off him now :D .... I wanna hold on to them for special nights out :(

I actually did 7 runs on my normal street tyres and only 4 on the RE540s. Cos the track was so damn slippery it was really hard to do a good looking smoking burnout, and it didn't do much to the tyres (which is kind of an upside I suppose). At least I got a few good comments from the commentators about my burnouts. I was spewing that every time I ran a clapped-out celica or the supercharged Monaro, they would rave about the other cars and say crap all about me. I got close to the time of 12.375 required to get into the Australian top 10 fastest rwd cars under 2.4litres and they never once complimented me on my times :( *sniffle*

Wicked, wicked!

Glad those 540s are now yours, will make chasing those last couple of tenths that little bit easier! Was surprised at how little damage all your tyre smoking action did to both sets of tyres really.

9krpm, your "topless" run was a great laugh, they commented on it over the PA, but with your stereo pumpin you probably couldn't hear it!

Also, there's nothing wrong with the guys out there doing 17s - they pay the money, and help to make such events plausible, which is good for all.

How come I didn't see you there Miss*33? Or did I speak with you? All that adrenaline and too many faces ....

I was standing with BOOSTD about two feet from your car but there were so many people milling around changing tyres etc, I didn't know which one was you! LOL :(

Sowwy 9krpm... :D Nothing wrong with running 17s! My car probably wouldn't do much better! LOL The falcon just looked funny running against all of the imports - not what I expected to see! :(

even if i was to bring my EL Futura id still pull 16 sec passes (the g-tec says 15.9 but i hered there a bit out). i dont blame him for having a few cones, anything to get out of the commonwhore world hes currently in now.

as it is i dont even know my power output in my skyline. the mods i have one to it aint to bad:-

3.5 cat back. probably front pipe soon aswell. :D

Hybrid Monster Front mount

boost controller set to 9psi

tripple plat button clutch

im one to ask a lot of questions as im still new to owning a skyline. so if i was to turn up next time dont be affraid to tell me to **** off if you get anoyed. lol

Glossory

Commonwhore - A whore is someone who gets thrashed. commodores are the most common car work the rest out for your self. lol

hey chops, what did they say?

They just said that this time you were running with the top down, and that surely that would be a disadvantage aerodynamically or something like that.

It certainly wasn't them saying "hey, he can't do that!"

Anyway, to be honest, I was quite disappointed with the commentators' lack of knowledge about a VARIETY of cars - I shit you not I heard one guy ask the other if it was called an S2000 cos it was brought out in the year 2000!!!

I also heard them commenting on the "304 Walkinshaw" when the only V8s allowed were LS1's and although it had a Walkinshaw kit, you could CLEARLY hear the turbo.

Anywho, enough bitching, it was a blast.

lol lol

TIMMMAYYY: gota love the replys you get on these forums. lol

i dont have anything against the commodore its self. it just theres to many of them.......what i need is a 4WD with a big bumper to clean them up. :D the only reason i bought a ford as to be differant. both cars are pretty good.

TIMMMAYYY: you wouldn't happen to be a commodore owner would ya . :(

~sits back awaiting next reply~

do it girl! you would get at least 15s depending on whether your car is standard. I say get out there and do it! I took my pulsar in the 4 6 and rotor nationals and got a 15.0 sec run! not bad for a n/a and people may laugh but at least i got out there and did it! I say do it!:D

Of course I bag it out - who doesn't want 500rwkw!!??!! :D

I know its a good car, but after driving yours last night BOOSTD, I'm pretty embarassed at the pathetic amount of power mine has!! LOL

Mel, we should represent the girls of SAU next time!! LOL If I ever get the guts to go out there!!! :(

    • The max they would go for me is 50.
    • That cannot have been a fun set of drilling. The stock "baffle" looks identical to rb26, I just cut fuel cell foam to fit the full length under the baffle.
    • I understand your sarcastic exasperation. But to be fair - the baffles do indeed fit OEM cam covers. They did omit to say that you need to do a bunch of stuff. But they do fit them.
    • Got started on the modification to make these splash plates fit over the long weekend. First the surprisingly time consuming task of swapping all the cam cap bolts to Tomei cam cap studs. I did the method of removing one bolt at a time, applying loctite to the stud, double nutting to torque as the manual described. Then carefully unlocking the nuts without disrupting the torque of the stud (and going back to re-torque a few times when it slipped). Finally applying the nut and torquing to spec. Repeat x28 Next up I went about removing the stock cam cover baffle so I could ensure it was fully clean after drilling for stud clearance.  As the blind rivets holding the baffle on were domed I used a punch to mark the center then used 4mm drill bit to carefully drill out the rivet without going too far part the baffle. As seen in other thread here is what is inside the stock baffles I decided on M4x6mm bolts to bolt the baffle plate back on with. I used a 3.3mm drill bit with some tape to mark the depth at ~8mm. Next was to tap the threads using a cheap bunnings kit M4x0.7. With the baffle removed I also drilled out the spot welds holding in the baffle plate oil returns. Unsure whether this was the best option or if I should have cut holes in the Hypertune splash plates to allow the oil drains to still function... time will tell. I then removed the the Hypertune splash plates so I could rest the cam cover on top and use a dab of grease to mark where the studs impacted the oem cam cover baffle. The most obvious spot was on the hump from the stock mesh is held. Using this hole as an anchor I bolted the oem baffle plate back into the cam cover and lined up the Hypertune splash plate. Marked the rest of the holes for the studs and drill those out too. Total 32 holes drilled and 12 threads tapped on the passenger side cam cover alone for this bolt on part that totally clears all OEM cam covers.. Drivers side next as well as some E85 safe fuel foam to fill the space behind the behind cam cover baffle plates. oh and some lock nuts for the splash plates of course.
