not really buying the laggy turbo's are slower but seem faster argument. (within reason)

turbz 25, i think you should just take it to a different tuner. Every tuner is different.

not saying your current tuner is a bunny, but if a different tuner comes up with simular results, then you would think its maybe something in your setup.

even just get a power run on another dyno and maybe get the AFR's checked again.

its a shame to hear you pumped quite a lot of money into it and your still not happy. good luck with it!

The GT3582 combined with a 0.82 housing on a RB30/25 should provide a great linear type of result – ie keeps on climbing with rpm. And looking at the overlays it does so, while the 2835 tends to flatten off across 120-150km/h with a bit of a kick at the end. I’d be chasing that smooth progressive delivery any day.

If you want a searing mid-range rush, slip a 0.63 A/R housing onto that GT35. It’ll be anything but “boring”, but just don’t expect it to be easy to drive and achieve traction. Power-down is important if you want to go fast, as opposed to feel fast.

Either way, looks like you’ve got a pretty good setup overall. The numbers are there, with room for more. I didn't notice any complaint about whether it goes fast, just the feel. Before you do anything, take it for a good run at the track (or strip), and let us know what you think then.

ive got exactly the same setup and although i dont think its boring, it would probably feel a little slower than some other cars that have more of a hit.

this setup is very easy and nice to drive and boost comes on quite progressively. i dont think there are any issues whatsoever, rather you would be use to feeling a kick, and now the kicks gone.

if you have raced the old setup at a drag strip or done 0-100 times, try the new setup. im 100% positive you will find its quicker.

when i talk to some people about my setup, i say that it spools similar to a stock turbo, just it keeps going and going

I'm gonna save up for a ViPEC V44 ECU (get rid of the AFM and PFC, already maxed out at 312 rwkw), get me some Nismo 740cc injectors and a bosch 044 fuel pump.

I'll probably take it up to newcastle so Guilt Toy can work his magic on my car.

I know the car has more power than my previous setup, I can tell by the amount of wheel spin it achieves in second gear, but, it feels slower......

I guess the only way to tell is to print of a torque curve and compare the setups.

Also, I am a little worried about getting the V44, there is no knock sensor... WHat happens if you get a bad batch of fuel? It'll be pinging off it's tits and you wont even know...... Scary.... Maybe I should stick with the Power FC?

I have the same problem with the new turbo setup i put on. Personally the car is actually alot faster and have proved that on the 1/4 mile but it feels very slow compared to how it used to. Does not feel as aggressive and punchy. But in saying that a smoother tune is better even if it feels slower. Take it to the track i bet its not and it just the way the power comes on that makes it feel slower.

why you would make more changes - i got no idea, you should sort out what is wrong, or at least verify if something is wrong

The reason I am upgrading the ECU is because the AFM maxed out. So, rather than investing time and money trying to find a right AFM that won't max out before 350 rwkw, I may as well get a Vipec v44.

Although, I'd love to retain the PFC, it's a great computer, and the hand held controller makes it a bliss in terms of monitoring temperature and knock etc...

If anyone has a AFM that has not maxed out before 350 rwkw for sale, please let me know and Ill buy it from you...

I was even thinking of putting the Z32 sensor in a Q45 plastic casing? Might help a little?

I'm curious as to what compression ratio your 25/30 runs .

Also people don't seem to get much joy from those 264 HKS exhaust cams from what I read . How did you end up with a 256 Tomei inlet cam and a HKS 264 exhaust cam ?

You'll probably find that the extended exhaust valve timing means more overlap and that never helps bottom end torque - particularly if the compression ratio is a little low . I'm inclined to think that the matching 256 exhaust cam would make your engine feel more torquey/grunty in most instances .

I agree with some people here about changing your computer , I'd be trying to find out whats causing the lack of performance because if its not computer related changing it won't gain anything in the area your concerned about .

Your calls but I would be chasing killer torque rather than a Kw figure from an engine like that , torque means fast exciting and dramatic if that's your thing . A Kw number is just that - a number based on revs .

Compression ratio is 9:1. I dunno about the cams, that's what my tunner advised me to get, so that's what I got....

As mentioned before, I'll get a print out of my torque curve and compare it to my old one.....

I run a link computer which is exactly the same as the Vipec despite whatever people will tell you. Its a great computer and im a big fan, however having also had Power FC's i think they are also very good. I dont think its actually worthwhile changing computers as the additional cost will be horrendous vs purchasing a Q45 Afm. I had a Q45 afm a while back and had trouble selling it for 150 bucks. That will be good until near 400kws.

Btw. My old Mazda Gtx (this is years back) had a much bigger hit than my old S14. Doesnt mean its faster!

Enjoy the new setup. Upgrade the fuel system, and if you do change the computer, buy the Link option as the difference you will save on a Vipec will near on pay for your tune.

it's a tough one. 'feel' can be misleading. I have to admit it's a problem I've seen with a few RB30 combos that just didn't feel as 'exciting' to drive. on paper they looked great but just didn't have that same on the edge feel as the Rb25 and RB26s they replaced. It's possible that the old package was much more brutal in it's transition onto boost and that made it feel fast, where as the 30 with the new turbo builds boost earlier and in a more linear way. it is of course possible that the figures aren't exactly right. perhaps have it dyno'd somewhere else just for interests sake. just roll up to a dyno day somewhere, pay the $50 a get another set of graphs for comparisons sake.
