The vicroads website doesn't say anything about engine transplants, they only say doing power modifications are illegal.

I know someone that does engineer certificates, would this be enough to get the car registered as a non turbo?

From what I've heard engineer certificate kinda means no question's asked... it's legal.

In any case, will I be attracting that much more attention in a 180sx considering that I've never been pulled over by a blue boy in my r31 skyline?

I'm just sick of havin a auto... you can't do anything with a auto when they've got such little power.

I have to agree that the prices have gone up for N/A skylines, even the auto skylines that are N/A are some what overprices. I am a dude and am stuck with an auto skyline r33, I had previously had the car up for sale but decided im going to just keep it until I get off my P's and then sell it and get a manual turbo 33 and pay some extra cash to make it look more interesting in terms of appearence. I cant say I dont like my car being auto, it has its ups and downs, obviously I would rather have a manual but by selling my car now it would be wasting my time and money when I can just wait until im off my P's.

I agree with the whole commodore at the lights and being humiliated, but sometimes its a laugh, especially when they rev the guts out of there 1999 model commodore and then when the lights turn green I just glide off and they stall. what can I say, "shit happens"? lol

I saw a guy last week who had a 93 model GTS manual N/A and he was a P Plater selling his car for some reason, but he was asking 14k and the car had done 194,000km, bit weird. But yeah prices are up and down all over the place its just about finding a decent legit one.

thanks guys

I'm not too worried about loosing in drags, I've had my fun moments in my brothers car on my L's (loser fly by from commodore... hilarious actually). But I just find auto's so... boring, there's nothing to do... you have less control, less power, less fuel economy. Why did they invent the things! lol The only reason I have a auto skyline is cause the r31 skylines only came in a sports and luxury version. The TI doesn't come as a manual, and the Silo doesn't have any of the electrics (pwr windows etc). - plus the TI's have mostly had a good life compared to the silo's.

Yeah I could never afford manual driving lessons and my parents cars were only auto. So I saved for my first car being a Skyline r33 GTS auto lol Now I have manual and cant wait to get off my P's.

Cya guys

The car is still going to listed as a turbo vehicle whether you have a non-turbo engine in it or not. Changing the engine number will not solve the issue with cops fining you.

Putting a sr20de into a originally turbo 180sx is straight fit.

that engine was in the n13-n15 pulsar in various trims yeah?

My advice for what its worth is in line with the guys telling you to keep to your 'crap bucket' p plate car...its worth the wait, trust me. I had my N16 pulsar till i turned 21...now I have a GTR, and the pulsar is now a spare car for when i need it, or for my sister to learn in.

Just makes it that little bit more special, having to work towards and wait for it. Its not worth the grief of the wrong sort of attention and such.

yeah i know the sr20 turbo was in the GTiR...i think they did use the NA prior to or around the same time as the CA18/16 though. Not 100% sure but wiki seems to back me up lol

to put it into perspective a gtst 4 door auto R32 sold on here for under 5k and there are 2 door n/a's going for 9.5k+!

its rediculous

muhaha my girlfriends car was this ;) 4G. No body seems to want auto turbos. Really good buy atm. Car has served us very well already.
