I bought a car from QLD...Im sure it would be a similar process

when they rego it in QLD, they cancel the NSW rego/hand in the plates and you should get a refund for the remaining rego period (if there is any left!)

Just do the usual, sign the rego papers, get buyers details, write a receipt with date and time etc

fairly straight forward process :P

Nothing special really.

As far as you as the seller go, its simply a case of collecting the money, signing and completing the sale declaration on the back of your certificate of registration, retaining the top half (notice of disposal) and either taking to the RTA, or completing the vehicle registration disposal notice online at www.rta.nsw.gov.au

The rest is up to the buyer to deal with, however as Chris mentioned above, it is a good idea to have a brief but detailed receipt of sale typed up in duplicate, with details on the car, the sale price, date, buyers details etc, with both copies then being signed by you and the buyer. I do this for every car I have sold as a record keeping precaution.

:P

sold a van to some brisbane folk, met them at krispy kream mascot car park and did it there and then, just do the usual asif you were selling it to a nsw guy and its up to them to change rego and all that hassel....

also it makes you immune to speeding fines (that i got in the mail a month later) from when they drive it home....
