I'm all ready, my main issue was last night I realised that I must have left my lock nut key down at DECA last month. Bit of handy work this arvo got the suckers off. All set to go now. Should be fun, now all I got to do is not sleep through my alarm.

See you there,

Brendan.

Dan, send me a message in the morning when you are heading to the freeway. Hope you get them brakes sorted.

Are CAMS approved cages needed for the Championship days at Winton?

Winton is AASA AFAIK. Rules are much more sane.

Was supposed to drive up with some of the Driftline boys, but will ahve to give it a miss as I have work :P Good luck lads.

Great day, I had heaps of fun. Russ, I hope you didn't do too much damage. Did anyone catch the website address for the photographer who was there? They mentioned it at the drivers briefing.

Brendan.

Yeah smashed up my car. Oh well it's the price for having a heap of fun. I was getting very confident in the arvo and that's when I made the mistake. Should have some photo's up sometime soon. Campbell???

I had a great day though. A bit of work ahead now...

It sucked driving home with only NA power with a low compression engine. Cooler was smashed so we just pluged the air flow meter into the intake with no turbo in the loop. Turbo was spinning free the whole way home.

Now can I get it back for the winton WRX round and drift weekend 18/19 July???

I hada great day and learned a lot about the car (this was the first time I've hit the track in the car since I bought it two months ago and changed all the suspension and brakes).

As it was my first time drifting (Drift Virgin) so I spent as much time going backwards as sideways but I still had a ball. I changed the suspension setup over lunch and found it worked much better and also started taking every corner in 3rd as I found that easier.

Was nice to bring the car back home in one piece too ;D

While I can't say I'll be taking drifting up as a hobby (my car is more so being built for sprint type stuff) it was still an awesome day. Shame about the weather, some of my friends said being a spectator was a bit rough at times but I was nice and warm in the car, if not a little dizzy lol

Somehow I don't think I'm any threat for winning the shirt for most improved but maybe they should have a prize for the most spin outs? :(

Hope the damage isn't too expensive to fix Russ, hope to see you at the SAU Track day in July, I'm keen to head down for that as it's my birthday on the day so that means I'll just drive awesome lol

WTF, you bent the R32? I must have missed that, nothing too serious I hope?

Yeah hit the wall on the left just before the old turn one. My mate has pics. gotta get him to send em to me. It was in the arvo about 3:30ish.

Oh that sucks Russ! When you have a list of parts you need to do the fix, run it by us as we have all kinds of random stuff here and we're not that far away :)

Ill quote my wrap up from vdc and ns. Most of my rants dont apply to the guys i know from SAU but ill post it all the same.

Joe's web address is: http://www.jlphoto.com.au/

Give him a couple of days to get the pics up as i know he has 2000+ to sort through

Got a call at 1pm to say my car was fixed and tuned :P

236rwkw on 12psi with maxed out injectors :) Im very happy and hanging for next month :D Andrew and Benno did a great job on it yesterday and John and i are so relieved after a long month building the motor...

Ok guys and girls, my wrap up/slight rant/congratulations...

I can confirm there was 98 drivers entered on the day. How crazy is that! It took me 3 hours to get through about 90% of the entries. I was working like a machine but when drivers do not pre-enter or don't listen to me prior to the event when i say 'please go and apply/renew for AASA licenses prior to coming to enter your car' then that holds up the lines even longer.

I understand passengers are just as keen to get out there as the drivers but getting the drivers entered and on track is my #1 priority so i appreciated all the passengers that kept coming back to see if i was ready to see them :)

Rant/s:

One slightly bizarre thing i'd like to mention and stress is that a couple of the drivers i saw appeared to be under the influence of drugs. After talking to Winton officials about it last night, I'd like to point out that if i suspect any driver of being entered and under the influence of either drugs or alcohol, i will invite our lovely friends in blue down to do random checks.

Not only is it extremely dangerous to be trying to drift in that state, you could hurt yourself, someone else and as im the club mummy, ill mention ITS COMPLETELY ILLEGAL AND YOUR AASA/CAMS IS INVALID IF YOU HAVE AN ACCIDENT. Vic Drift is held liable for all drivers conditions at our event days and if i even suspect that a driver is under the influence, LOOK OUT!

Most drivers behaved themselves throughout the day. There were a few that continually disobeyed vic drift officials and as we know who you are, the board will be discussing this at our next board meeting and there may be consequences for your actions.

With so many drivers on track, there is no room for childish behavior. Its dangerous, embarrassing to the sport and slows down the day for the other drivers.

Drivers and passengers are NOT allowed to swap seats anywhere on the track they wish to do so. If you dont have an arm band on (driver or passenger) you are NOT allowed on the track.

If you do not have a roll cage, you are NOT allowed to have passengers! Only tutors in the beginners section are allowed in cars with no cages.

Alcohol in the pits is a NO NO! Yes i know some of you got caught yesterday and were told to leave. The board have also discussed paying security guards to attend events and mainly patrol the pit area. May i point out that you're not even suppose to be smoking in the pits!

Congrats/ thank you/s:

I'd like to congratulate about 95% of all the drivers entered on the day for such a fantastic turn out! It was awesome! Made me so jealous that my car wasn't there!

Big kudos to my fellow board members and volunteers on the day. We all worked out butts off and it paid off in the end. Thanks to our photographers and can't wait to see the pics in a couple of days!

Thank you to Winton Raceway crew, safety and the canteen for all their efforts.

See you all in July.. After you've pre-entered :P

p.s

Yoshi has some major points hes going to touch on so be prepared :)

Cool. Shame it was a day late! Although you'd wanna run it in a bit first.

Well I definitely need a front bar (I want a GTR bar), Reo bar, left headlight and left indicator.

Already got an intercooler on order and should be ok to get the piping sorted as well. Let me know if you have any of this stuff.

Awesome day!

Was the first time iv had a ride at a drift day and it was fantastic!

Russell you really did some good driving! We did a few awesome laps but then the unfortunate happened!

Oh well, at least we got it running turbo or not haha.

Time to get the slide hammer and porta power out! Might need a sledge hammer as well! jk

Saw really good driving from TETS (TITS on the day LOL), the silver 32, and the white 32 was really good too.

Best was the dude in the VL wagon! Unreal!

    • No. I think it's gone. 😭 I think you can get body coloured ones on eBay so I think I'll get one of those... Or just hang a red ribbon from the hole and whack a TOW sticker next to it.
    • Can't say I've had a bad experience with one on my car, then again it only gets washed once or twice a year... The wheels on the other hand, get a good spray often due to my shitty dusty pads.
    • @MBS206 thats pretty neat and tidy to me!  I'll get a photo of mine when I'm out there next. It might require multiple photos to understand the scale of the atrocities though... In total I have 4 sheds of varying sizes and layouts. Main shed is 14x8, second shed is 3x8, third shed is 11x2.5, fourth shed is around 6x4.  All are pretty much full.   The main goal of my cleaning tsunami is to make the main shed predominantly car and motorbikes only. Second shed is my metal fab room (2 x bench grinders, drill press, bench belt sander, metal band saw, scrap metal storage and some of my garden tools.  3rd shed is more bigger garden stuff, storage for engine crane, jack stands, concrete grinder, concrete mixer, air compressor lives there, and it now has two 2mx2m pallet racking shelves with itemised boxes holding building stuff, electrical stuff, plumbing stuff, etc, etc.  The 4th shed is Ryobi electric ride on mower, mini boom sprayer, ancient Kubota tractor, more garden stuff!  I have got a lot of shit....  Then there's the pool house (8mx4m) and the pool pump shed (4mx4m).  I built all of the sheds over the 11 years we've been here.  The main shed was a Ranbuild kit, the rest are all custom made to fit the areas available. Building the main shed taught me a LOT as I had no idea about building anything prior to that!  I've still got one more in me. It will be my man cave which I poured the extra concrete for way back when I poured the concrete for the main shed. The idea is the Skyline will be a centre piece of the main cave once (if...) it's finished.  I told my now 14 year old son yesterday that I will 100% drive him to his year 10 formal in 2 years. Still a long way off but at least I now have a date to work towards! 🤣
    • Modern oils are amazing. Add tyres to that as well.
    • Probably a smart choice to buy one vs build, purely for the motivation part as you said! Imagine the metal dust everywhere from grinding all the steel to build one. Ha ha ha!   Also, post a photo of your garage.   Mine is below, this is where I've been cleaning and have already half filled a caged 6*4 trailer. And this is after my cleaning expedition mentioned previously... The middle normally has a car in it, but I'm dumping things in the middle as I sort through them. And poor skyline was dusty and has had the lightest few drops of rain and now it looks atrocious and needs to be dragged back out and washed thoroughly! And yes to the right is technically another bay, you really can only see 2 bays out of 3 in this picture.
