hi,i'm about to do the 1st oil change on my rx m35.

Can you tell me what type of oil you all use in you 35s?

Brand, type and viscosity would be good. It would also be helpful to know why you chose that oil above others.many thanks, graham. :P

Motul 300v Chrono (10w40) with Veruspeed, K&N or Amsoil filter (currently Veruspeed).

Nissan's oil is a 7.5w30 that they use in standard passenger cars so you could also use the Motul 300V Power Racing (5w30).

I have used a number of different oils and I can tell you from first hand experience that the engine revs easier and "feels" right with the 300V Chrono.

Using Motul 4100 Turbolight 10w 40 in mine. Great quality oil, not silly on price. Have used for several years in various cars. Not a single issue.

Hope this helps.

No problem if you change it ever 5,000kms as it is a mineral oil with synthetic additives.

You get what you pay for... although I did find it to be better than a few of the Synthetics

300v Chrono cost is high.

RETAIL... about $100 for 4L... and as you know, we need 5L per oil change.

So ~$160 for 6L of 300v, saving 1L for next time averages out to be about $130 of oil per 10,000kms.

The K&N filter has a silicone surface over the cellulose which, in theory, reduces drag on the oil as it flows through the material.

It is a heavy duty, well made filter with a handy 25mm nut on the end which makes removal easier (mine was a bitch even though I only do them up hand tight).

The Veruspeed (Nismo) info straight from RHD;

The VERUSPEED oil filter adopts a Density Inclination Structure, in which the filter weave becomes closer towards the center. The filter provides both longer life, and better filtration as the bigger particles are caught near the surface, and the tiny particles are caught in the fine mesh near the center, this 3d filtration greatly increases the effective filtration area. The physical filtration area was enlarged by optimizing the furnace shape

I found the Veruspeed filter to be on par with the build quality of the K&N (which actually surprised me), although not quite as heavy.

I would use the Amsoil filters all the time if they were not so damn flimsy feeling.

I love the theory behind their nano-molecular filtration, and it does make sense, but I can't help but feel like it is a cheap build (even though it costs me more than the K&N and the Veruspeed).

So if you do your own changes, it will cost you ~the $150 every 10,000km's... which ain't bad IMHO

I would personally prefer to spend $150 every 10,000 and have some extremely high quality oil protecting my engines internals than to spend $80-100 every 5,000 for a compromise.
