Hey guys,

As the topic says I am after some tyres for my car. At the moment the current tyres are 18 / 245 / 40 which i was thinking i would get again.

I got a quote on Bridgestone RE001's 18/235/40 for $330/tyre (fitted and balanced) but for 245's the price went to $415/tyre! But i really don't want to downgrade to 235's which would be seriously stretched also.

Aparently 235 is a really common width for 18's (thanks to the commodore crew) and that is why the 245's are so exxy. Does anyone know someone that can do a decent price on 245's in these or maybe a similar tyre? A mate of mine with an s15 (235's front and back) is also buying tyres with me so we are talkin about $2.5K+ that we will be spending.

Cheers.

do you only want those tyres man? i mean they are awesome tyres and not alot come close to them but if you want cheaper options check these guys out.

they are in richmond and fit and balance pretty cheaply. they also stock goodyear/dunlop/kumho and other cheaper brands like nankang and zeetex. give them a call.

edit: for got to mention the federals sold by access auto http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ty...es-t205076.html

Yeah, I heard about these but I didn't want to spend that much, plus my car is running a bit of camber so the tyres get eaten on the inside.

The Bridgestone's I should be able to get cheaper but they still ain't cheap.

And i could go 255 or 265's but my car is lowish and i dont want any potential scrubbing.

I'm using falken fk425, think they were 320each for 265/35/18, so u'd think 245's would be cheaper....

it depends on how common the size is... i was looking at 17" tyres for my 17x9 +15's on my R31, and due to being quite an aggressive offset, i preferably needed something under a 235.

a 235/45R17 is much cheaper than a 225/45R17, which is cheaper than a 215/45R17.

i went with 235's all round, and if i do get a bit of rubbing (it's barely touching, but it does happen), the tyres are alot cheaper to replace!

in regards to the original post... have a look at different size/profiles around 235-265, you might find a common size that is a bit cheaper.

235/40R18 is actually a 'legal' fitment on a 18x9.5" rim, and doesn't look too stretched.

edit: this is a 235/40R18 on an 18x9.5 on a mates 33 gts-t.

She is a good woman, and in the big picture, I'm really lucky.....that she hasn't killed me yet
