Ok, this is not the easiest thing to explain but here goes.

My remote boot release has never worked. I have fixed it now so that it does, but I don't understand why it has the "feature" it has, which is the reason it never worked in the first place.

The small lever that the remote release cable activates is on the lower catch mechanism (on the car itself) and it hits the release on the boot lid mechanism, and the boot opens. For some reason the level on the lower mechanism has a long vertical slot in it so that it can move up and down as well as side to side. WHen it is all the way down and then activated from the remote lever, it does not contact the boot lid, but when it is all the way up and then the release is pulled it works fine.

I just don't know what the option to have it all the way down would be for, as this doesn't seem to be a handy feature. Has anyone had this right appart and worked out how it should go? If not the next time it doesn't work it's coming right out and either understood or modified (home style).

Thanks

D

The design is so that you can have a different key for the boot, and safely leave your car somewhere without the the sphincter of the universes having access to what's in the boot via the remote release.

Valet feature.

You should have 2 different keys for your R33. A squarey head one and a round head one. The round one is the one you give to valet kids and it doesnt open the boot or the glovebox.

If you are gonna use it, you need to disable the remote boot release via this as said above

:D
