Ehgriez
thats your exhaust temp light. possibly a collapsed cat. Also known to come on if low on fuel as your engine leans out. You'd have to be super low though, like your about to stall from no fuel sort of thing. Tell him to check his cat. XxNinjaxX
just a thought, could it possibly be a faulty o2 sensor? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/271250-r32-engine-splutter/#findComment-4614485 Share on other sites
Ehgriez
couldn't say. However I can definitively tell you that light is for the exhaust temp sensor. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/271250-r32-engine-splutter/#findComment-4614500 Share on other sites
Endivision
G'day. its my R32 with the problems Took it to an exhaust specialist today. Who more than happily charged me for a new o2 sensor he replace ($260), but this didn't fix the problem. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction. Symptoms are: Car is running very rich/strong smell of fuel and another strange smell (burning metal?) Runs as rough as all shit/idles high Response is very laggy Coughs and splutters when you give it some gas And the all important Exhaust heat sensor warning light is on (2 second intervals) Exhaust is choked with soot. Exhaust guy said he checked the cat converter which was fine and replaced the o2 sensor. stormtrooper
Check your airflow meters to make sure they are working? Also is it backfiring? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/271250-r32-engine-splutter/#findComment-4617689 Share on other sites
Ehgriez
sounds like the ecu is on rich and retard, hence running rich. Have you taken it somewhere to check for error codes on the ecu? Send Douse a pm on this forum he has a consult cable and software so he can plug it in and check if theres an error code flashing, or just search the forum for ecu error codes and start counting the flashes:P Alternatively take to a mechanic that handles nissans alot, and has a consult cable. stormtrooper
I had an issue with me old VL many years ago, RB30 motor of course, VERY similar sort of issues, ended up being a piston issue. Endivision
Cheers for the Info guys. Result: Diagnostics run at imports101, sensors working fine, ECU wasn't converting the o2 intake data correctly. Replacing the ECU solved the problem. Cost: 5 1/2 hours diagnostic work/labor $550 ECU $220 Pain in the ass skyline =P Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/271250-r32-engine-splutter/#findComment-4643655 Share on other sites
