From the get go I've felt something was wrong with the 260RS. Something in the drive, something in the way the rear was responding. Also under power I would get some surge.

So I got the rear diff opened up and sure enough it was stuffed. LOL I was told from Japan that the rear diff was modified. Yeah it was alright, it was broken, and then they tried welding it.

Anywayz I got a torque sensing LSD out of a R34GTR to replace the broken diff. The change its made has been monstrous. Now the car is behaving as it should.

What I'm now finding is under power the car is twisting. The next stage is stiffening up the stage. I have a tower strut and that's it.

Obviously a rear strut is in order, which I'll hunt down (if anyone is selling one, let me know :) )

What other measures can I take to stiffen up the stage? A mate said a roll cage, but I want to stay clear of going to that extreme. Is there anything else I can do besides struts?

Cheers.

Hi there, my experience with the 260RS (reckon mine was in good shape to start with) is that they are pretty firm handling in the first place with stock suspension. Having said that I have done the SK upgrade in the Stagea Suspension thread to make my ride even firmer. Need better holding seats now. If your torque sensing diff was shagged when you got the car I would be investigating further to see what else had been modified or needs replacing. Rear cradle bushes flogged out, shocks nackered etc. I have stock shocks from my car laying around in the shed gathering dust if you are interested. (JECS) Nothing wrong with them, just Bilsteins are better. Plus original 260 anti-roll bars, front/rear.

My 2c

Cheers GW

along with front and rear strut braces, i've also got a tanabe trans tunnel brace - basically a brace that runs from one side of the car to the other over the trans tunnel gap beneath the trans itself. these plus the coilovers make the car feel nice and stiff but next on my list of things to do however, are sway bars. after that i'll look at all the bushings

Cheers for the info guys :)

Anyone know where I can find these parts? Is it something I'll have to import myself?

The tanabe trans tunnel brace sounds promising, as I was thinking about something underneath the car.

I've added a pic of how the car came from Japan. As you can see they've cut the plastic center pillar in two places on either side of the vehicle and welded metal bars from one side to the other. When the car arrived from Japan, the cross bars had been removed, but you can still see the evidence of their handy work.

As far as I've been told, the vehicle was used on the track. It came with no front seats, so I imagine they had a race seat installed. I found some R33GTR seats as replacements. Your not wrong in saying investigating further. The car came with a heap of mods and other oddities, some removed, some kept.

I've pretty much sorted everything out as far as handling goes. Aftermarket shocks in excellent condition, bushes and everything undercarriage checked and cleared. And it really does handle remarkably well for a wagon, but I am noticing a twist when really putting the foot down. Maybe I'm just being paranoid and its nothing to worry about, but I'd still like to strengthen the vehicle up as I plan to further increase the power as the budget allows in the future.

Maybe the cross bars they welded on where done for a reason? It has got me thinking ....

There was a guy advertising undercar bracing for the WGNC34 but the ad is not on now. I'll bring it to your attention when it shows up again. Have you dynoed your car? Maybe you have an extra-ordinary amount of torque!

sorry to hijack your thread when I have no valid input for you, but I was just wanting to know if the r33 gtr seats will fit straight into an RS4 series 2 with no hassles? I've searched and haven't found where someone says for sure they do (yet.. still looking) but I saw how you got some r33 seats for yours so if you could just confirm for me if any additional mods need to be done to fit them or not that'd be great.

Thanks alot :)

ive gota rear strut brace in my 260... it did do a bit but ive got shagged shocks in mine so ill never know how good it is until i get sum coils... is your 260 running normal ish power/tourque? mines got f**k all grip around tight corners under power :) good and bad lol... pay the shipping and ur more then welcom to test my strutty out :) just out of interest what suspension are you running?

do your self a favour and get the steering rach bush??? changed? kidafa or mike will tell u more about this but ive heard for $20 its the best thing u can do to ur stag! going from a soft squishy one to a solid one :S... that and stabeliser bars are an interest of mine to look in to!

Cheers for the replies guys.

I'm thinking process of elimination ....

I'll start off, as has been suggested, with a rear strut:

http://www.rhdjapan.com/jdm-low/Cusco-Alum...ar-Type-OS-9597 (Thanks Ryan1600)

Maybe all my problems are simply because there is no rear strut on the vehicle. So I'll grab one and see if it makes a difference, though I'm sure it will.

Right now its at 250kW but that was done with a dodgy broken rear diff. Hence the surging under power. Am yet to get it dyno'd now the diff has been replaced.

Cheers
