Some suggestion in ^ thread that they should be run in - so how is it done and when, if at all, should i change then engine oil? FWIW they're stock GTR turbos highflowed.

People say no high boost, vary the load, and no highway driving for 500 miles.

I say don't worry about it. If anything is touching to wear in, it's already broken. Drive it like you stole it.

No run in at all.

bolt on - off you go.

Change the oil every 5,000-10,000 as normal.

Not one person i know has ever 'run in' a turbo and i know plenty of people that have rebuild ball bearing, bush/journal and so on.

bolt on, boost up

It's all debateable but something I noticed when I bolted on my high flow bush-bearing turbo was that the lag time lessened within the first 500km. This, I'm guessing would have been a run-in period for the turbo. My tuner also suggested not to give it too much and let it run in as well.

I know of a few people that would agree with this, also know a few people that won't.

My suggestion is, if it's a bush-bearing, run it in (to play it safe)... if it's ball-bearing, not so much. Then again, do whatever you want.
