Cool looking forward 2 ur results lachlanw u are truly lucky 2 have an r33 cant w8 till i get 1 .. haha i think it would take more that 10 mins when u start having fun

i dont even have an r33 . and i have 10 psi by 2500 rpm when my car was standard. and you have to define "full boost " because on an r33 technically its not u untill after 4500/5000 when the boost controll solenoid has opened

from my understanding a stock 33 runs 5psi boost until 4500rpm then kicks to 7psi.

mine is stock and starts spooling somewhere about the 2000-2500rpm mark then gives a slight extra kick at 4500rpm when hitting high boost.

iv got a stockish r33 s2, with an after market boost controler, mine is spooling by 2k and i have full boost by 2.5k

i think the series 1 turbos thou spool a little slower and later in the rev range than my one

i have always found this rather interesting since the boost should be controlled by the wastegate so technically you shouldn't be able to run any more than 5psi with no boost controller as the wastegate should open. i know that when i didn't have a boost controller on for a day when i had full exhaust done and fmic i was only getting 5psi.

Well I know for a fact, and the entire SAU:NSW brigade will back me up on this, that THAT is exactly what happened to my car. (I do not consider my car to be the 'norm' however)

It was my first dyno day, I didn't own a boost controller and the only thing I had done to the engine was the front mount. Didn't even have a pod on there...

I ran a little competition to see who could get the closest guess. Steve-0 won with a stupid guess of 150kws... It hit 178kws

Maybe the duel stage (grounded) solenoid was farked, who knows...

i had an issue with my solenoid. when i first got the car it wouldn't go above 5psi. next morning before work i tried touching the power wire of the solenoid with a wire straight from the 12v source to the fuse box to make sure the solenoid was working. i could hear it clicking when i touched it. then on my way to work it was 7psi all the time even though it was still wired up normally. i hadn't grounded it or anything. just had temporarily touched the wire with a 12v source.

and i'm not disputing what happened with your car, just making a point that all the people who seem to have it happen, but i never had it, and according to how a wastegate should work, it shouldn't be going on unless there is a restriction in the dump pipe that is restricting the air coming out of the wastegate meaning more air has to come out past the wheel. this would create a higher boost as the wastegate opening more isn't going to make much difference because of the restriction.

but normally what should happen, regardless of how free flowing the exhaust or intake is, is that the all exhaust gases spin the turbo, this creates pressure. once the pressue is up to the level that the wastegate it is set to it starts to open thus limiting the amount of exhaust gases spinning the turbo and limiting the boost. if you increase the amount of gas coming out the exhaust, the moment they start making the turbo spin faster and increase the pressure, the wastegate should open more thus dropping the boost back to desired level.

as per nissan service manual, page EN-153 the standard R33 GTST Manual actuator is rated at 385mmhg which is 7.44 PSI of boost

so the lowest possible boost you can run, is 7.44 PSI, contrary to everyone believing R33 GTST dual stage boost is 5/7, its actually 7/9PSI

so this explains why, if you do the dual stage hack (howto section by me) and free up intake/exhaust you get 10psi ballpark

youll also be sure to note R33 GTST Auto runs less boost, its actuator is rated at 270mmhg or 5.22PSI boost

BNR32 actuator is 0.75kgcm2 which is 10.66 PSI boost

R32 GTST actuator is 0.85kgcm2 which is 12.08 PSI boost
