r34 stock boost gauge

hey people....

Is the reading on the R34 GT-T boost gauge by bar or by psi ?

i'm sorry .. its a pretty stupid question but yeah just want to clear things out abit.

If it's the same as R32 and R33 (which I think it is) then it's measured in 100's of millimetres of mercury. That means when it's at +7, the manifold pressure is at 13.5psi or so. The needle goes above 7 though, so you could probably make a semi-educated guess at the pressure up to 15 or 16psi or thereabouts. If you don't have an EBC and want to set your bleed valve, then you should probably install a decent quality boost gauge. At least temporarily.

Nope, it isn't measured like that on the R34.

As you would have noticed (see picture attached) the top of the dial is 1kg/cm^2, and the bottom is -700mmHg.

1 bar is 1.02 kg/CM^2, so that means the top of the gauge at 1 kg/cm^2 is .98 bar or 14.223psi.

1 bar is also 750.2838 mmHg, so the bottom of the gauge (-700mmHg) is -.93 bar or -13.528psi

I agree, who knows what's in the heads of those marketing guys... And it’s even worse than that, in the optional (or later?) white background dials, they change it again to –1/+1 100Kpa, and, you guessed it, 100Kpa is 1 Bar ie 14.508psi…
